I must agree, I do 3D graphcs ofr a living, for that I must use NT, for a long time me and my girfriend debated wat Background and Icons to use, frugal.., anyway, until I start using Linux I never realize I could have several users on my NT box, and each user with they own preferences ... I know it sounds stupid, but it's true, when I used inux, and it forces me to create a user becides root (NT I was using as Adinistrator :( ), and then learned about user previleges, and etc, etc ...

bottom line, indded Windows users are in the dark, and most of them don't even know how to fully take advantage of theyr systems

No, I agree with the first post, indeed there seems that alot of asholes think that just because a application is commercial, it is evil or will never make it on Linux, BULSHIT !!!, that is the kinf of shit that prevents some other companies from developing to Linux, not everything is F@@@@NG free, I use Softimage for my work, it costs 10K, I can't hardly whait for them to port it to Linux, and if they ever do it wil cost the same 10K, but I guess for most people it shuld be free, right ? well it is not, and it wil never bee, I think it's great inux is free, but whe need more apps now, and some of them are going to be COMMERCIAL ones, and I for once don't see a single problem with that, I pay 10K for SI because I make money with it, if Im in a business and I need a app. to run my business and that ap. costs money .. wel, I'm just gnna HAVE to pay and shut up about it ... get a hint people...

Ok, so AMD claims the AMD 550 will be faster than the Xeon 550, but how about Floating Point ? I mean, I am a 3D Artist, and all my CPU time is spent rendering, how does the new K7 compares aghinst the Xeon (or PIII) on FPU ? AMD has been known to suck in such tests, I was planning in getting a Dual Xeon, shuld I whait for the dual K7 (anybody knows if it's quad possible ?)

What's the big deal of the 133 Mhz bus ? the K7 is beeeing released with the 200 Mhz bus (that Digital developed), more intel really needs to do something, the PIII is NOT that much of a inprovemnt over the PII, I just hope the k7 has good floating point performance, since in the past that's what kept allot of people away from them.

I am a proud user of SuSE Linux 6.1, and I must say, people like the one that made the first post make me sick, Linux is a great program, but until the commercial companies start developing COMMERCIAL applications for Linux whe won't go anywhere, I use NT because apps like Lightwave, now if Lightwave was on Linux I would gladly PAY the same price and drop my NT (and don't give me the "there are 3D apps for Linux") Blender 3D is the the better one I found and it still sucks (then again 100 bucks), there is nothing wrong indeed with making money, but it is wrong to crack a company hard working code and dirtribute it for free, if it's they choice not to realease it, fine then, at lkeast they are developing for Linux which is a VERY good thing
