Postmark is a good idea, but I've always been told that it has to travel over state lines, so FYI. Also, it should go without saying that you don't open it =)
A notary is better... BUT you'd basically have to make a sworn statement and staple it to the ream of source code (or have the notary stamp EVERY page). I'm not too certain what the legal ramifications are... like if someone claimed that you moved the statement off of the original ream and onto another, how would you prove them wrong as it is only a staple that holds them together?
Anyway... I've got my own piece of shareware, so for my own sake I wish you good luck =)
I've used a laptop with Norton AntiVirus installed to check the hard disks/files of other systems, maybe something simple-n-stupid like this would help?
2)a state powerful enough to influence events throughout the world.
Huh... I'd have to subscribe to the #2 in the list, though I'd submit that in order to be able to be powerful enough to influence events throughout the world you would need to be a nuclear state with more then a limited regional range as a pre-req (suggesting some sort of space program as a R&D bed). The idea that there is only one super power at any one time is bullshit... look at the cold war. USA -vs- Russia. The US influenced the western world and Russia influenced Asia almost entirely (not to mention eastern Europe). Vietnam being a prime example of USA -vs- Russia.
My own personal opinion is that the US is at the top of world super powers, with China in a distant second (thanks to it being basicially a 3rd world country with some 1st world technology) and the EU in a far distant third (simply due to their many varied opinions thanks to the fact that they are in fact different countries). Britain of course is generally well-respected world wide, but is below the super power radar if you ask me.
I was under the impression that China's capabilities were far more limited then you state, which they are but not nearly as much as I thought... Check out this BBC page for more info.
As for China being a "Super Power", it's been my understanding that the USA is the world's last Super Power!? I'm not certain why this is as China has shear numbers behind it (not to mention nukes and some form of space program, as does the EU), but most live in 3rd world conditions, so I guess that knocks them down a peg... or maybe that's just good ole American arrogance? (which I can get away with saying, as I am myself an gringo =)
So who are the world's Super Powers? A quick Google Search did me no good, so what are the requirements and the current list? Anyone?
$5000 is nearly nothing to a corp! And if this will go to support an open source project by infusing money into the primary developer, then this is a wonderful idea!

Heeheehee... I donno about Asian mail order brides, but I got screwed on mine =) After phone calls/plane tickets/education over the 8 year relationship, I'm in for over 35k. So if you go the 'mail order bride' route, be sure to read the fine print!
But the blokes will agree - nutin' quite like an Aussi sheila!

I'm an American bound for the land of Oz because of the depression that is the job market in the US (and more specifically Northern California). I've been out of work since March and only just recently picked up a contract position thanks to a buddy of mine. Thanks to all of this my fiancée (who is an Aussi) and I are taking the opportunity to live, work and travel around Australia for at least a year. Due to the job market here, we're not waiting around until either of us get positions. But we've got the advantage of her not needing a visa to work (as it's her home country) and I'm able to enter on a spousal visa. So that is my experience on the matter... one thing you'll want to remember is the work visa application process, as it's rarely free and would be an added cost if you decide to go to a country and then find work (then again its different for Euros, isn't it?)! Good luck! Travel when you're young!
Every Xvale and Xville will sue each other claiming they were the first with the suffix... York will take New York to court for infringing on it's originally suffix... And ING Investments will charge a royalty to everyone using "ing" at the end of a word (shit, I guess I owe them for 3 payments already!).
Bob: Hey Frank, you remember where the XSLT information is in this XML book?
Frank: Yea, it's in chapter 7... page 125 I believe.
Really, how is ANY different and how is this not (yet) illegal as well?
On another note... exactly how does this effect web developers/authors/etc in other countries? Will I never be allowed to go to Denmark if I deep link?
I recently started designing a computer desk for my fiancé and myself. The desks we currently have simply are not cutting it anymore and I figured it was time we upgraded. My sister had recently purchased a nicely shaped desk for under $300 but besides being made out of particleboard I would need two to fill the roll. I was simply not willing to pay $600 for two desks of particleboard.
After much searching around town I came to the realization that I wanted the look and functionality of a cheep desk made out of hardwood like the expensive, god awful ugly unfunctional executive style desks. So from this I realized that I would have to make my own. Luckily, my grandfather is very skilled at woodworking and has made pieces of furniture before. So after talking it over with him I began making plans for a computer desk with enough room for:
3 Desktops
3 Towers
3 Printers (a DeskJet, LaserJet, and Scanner/Printer/Copier dealie)
1 17" Monitor
1 21" Monitor
10 Feet of Bookshelf Space
2 Telephones
1 Stereo Receiver w/ Speakers
(and if space permitted)
Enough room for a friend to setup his laptop for network gaming
I did the plans in MS Word 2000 (yea, try to keep the laughing to a minimum) in 1/12th scale (i.e. 1 inch = 1 foot). The plans show only the left side and the printer/server island. The second desk is a mirror of the left side.
My desk is as yet to be built, but it looks like we'll be able to get it done with nice materials for about $400! Anyway this is the DIY home office solution I've come up with so I hope it either gives someone else ideas or the guts to do it themselves! If you have any questions or suggestions, email me!
Why not have the phone companies randomly tap into conversations to make sure that noone they are providing service to is doing anything illegal? Or! Or maybe they could provide this as a service to spouses who suspect that the other spouse is cheating on them! *OR* maybe any info they happen to accidently 'hear' while tapping into a non-violating call they could sell that information to advertisers! Or...
