  1. It seems our parent nation England/UK on BBC Web Slip-Up Insults Facebook Fans · · Score: 1

has somehow confused the 4th of July, US Independence Day with April Fool's day and tried to make the April Fool's day version of the new BBC web site.

I think the BBC's funniest April Fool's prank was the Spaghetti Trees.

Oh that British Humor. If only Benny Hill had not passed away or Monty Python broken up they could have made even more practical jokes and even more BBC prototype beta web site designs to insult and offend more Facebook fans.

"We're the BBC, we don't care, we don't have to!" -Ernestine after being fired from her US phone company job and relocated to the UK to work for the BBC help desk to answer calls about this.

We Americans don't know what saddos means, it sounds like some sort of British candy, and we had no idea that the Queen of the UK joined the Pakistan hockey team, but good for her to cross cultural barriers and take up hockey. I am sure her royal highness is the best hip checker in that team and if the Pakistan hockey team wants to win, pass it to the Queen who is so skilled she can shoot a puck past any goalie due to all the hockey practice she took in the UK to get ready to join the Pakistan hockey team to help them win. I hear she took hockey lessons from none other that Sarah Palin herself who as the best hockey mom/pitbull with lipstick in Alaska needed a job after quitting as governor and was glad to teach the Queen all about hockey. I also heard that for her services to HRH and the crown that Sarah Palin was knighted as a female knight or dame or whatever and is moving to the UK to become an adviser to the Queen on hockey and other things they Queen wishes to know like using a sniper rifle in a helicopter to kill surplus wolves and stuff. HRH finds such things amusing that she is making a deal with Obama and Congress to turn the USA into the UK 2.0 so we can rejoin the New British Empire to help fix out economy and use UK laws as our US Constitution was not really being used anymore and then we can adopt the Pound Sterling and drop the US Dollar because now it is worth not more than toilet paper.

I remember having a Fedora 9 Web Server and all kinds of foreign IP addresses tried to crack passwords and guess user names. I read the logs as root showing me failed attempts using some dictionary attack of English/American first names and passwords from a dictionary list. Now I don't use first names but handles and pen names that are hard to guess and run as a user account and only use root when I need to do something.

A friend of mine told me they will keep trying and cannot be stopped because my Linux server has no defense system to counter attack their hacking attempts and when they send a DoS attack my system does not send one back.

But I was never able to find such programs for Linux that would counter-attack such things and stopped hosting my web site at home and moved it to a web hosting services and let their admins monitor it 24/7. I recall they used an exploit in Apache 2.X and PHP during Halloween when I was taking my wife and son out for collecting candy. I come back home and found that trolls from Kuro5hin hacked my web server and took control and added insulting and untrue stuff about me. Later on they did the same thing to Net Money Chat that used Scoop like Kuro5hin but the admin fixed it to work with Apache 2.X and mod_perl for Apache 2.0, he submitted the code changes to Rusty, but Rusty never did anything about them. Then the Kuro5hin trolls hacked Net Money Chat and make it so it never served web pages and sabotaged the system so no part of it would work.

I would like to see such things available or built into Linux and other operating systems or be part of a security update or some free or open source software that can be gotten by people or small businesses that run web sites and need some way to force hackers and attackers to stay away from their web servers or at least collect enough evidence to submit to the FBI or some other group to hunt down the hackers and crackers by generating an ODF or PDF or whatever file that contains copies of the logs and a list of IP addresses doing the hacking and cracking attempts and attacks and then lists what they did. If needed a court can examine the Linux logs to see the whole history if they want to as well.

Then when the terrorists or crooks use the dummy data to register some where have the bank report it and get the IP address and email of the person using the dummy data and get a warrant for their arrest.

If you counter-attack it might be someone's infected system used as part of a BotNet and then if it is a system in a foreign nation our military does a DoS or attack to they might declare war on us.

So it is better we track down these attacks and learn the true source and not the Botnet of infected zombie PCs who don't even know they are infected but are remote controlled by terrorists.

This is basically an Internet 911 attack that keeps happening over and over again until we learn how to stop them.

If you are on Facebook or MySpace do not post personal information about yourself and never post that you are going to work or vacation as robbers will then know when you aren't home so they can break in and steal your Flatscreen TV set, checkbook, credit cards, computer, iPod, iPhone, whatever.

They also pay for advertising that has pop-ups with fake error messages like "Unhandled Expection Error 0x00000000" or "Your computer is infected with 327 viruses click here to remove them" that install a remote access and keylogger trojan horse virus that can tell when you post anywhere even in email that you are going on vacation or to work, and yes they will get your home address if you type it in somewhere.

I've had family members and friends be targeted this way. I don't know if it is just individuals doing this, or an unorganized gansta group, or a more tech savvy MAFIA, or even if it is a terrorist network trying to do this to steal the wealth from the USA on person at a time.

Also if you get an email claiming to be from the FBI to deliver money or cars or even anything to you, do not reply and delete it or move it to your junk folder. The FBI does not deliver money and most of these con artists and scammers try to tell you that you won some foreign lottery or a BMW and the FBI will deliver it to you by giving out your personal information, bank account number, credit cards, SSN, etc. Don't fall for it as it is a modified Nigerian 419 scam.
