Just FYI, you've publically posted that you leave your 5 year old child in front of an internet-enabled computer while you go do things. I just thought I'd highlight that for you, just in case you didn't mean to embarrass yourself.
Ever had pneumonia? You can barely breathe, your coughing mucus from your lungs, and you feel the life disappearing from you. It's not a sleeping disease, unless you've been put to sleep by meds.
Twitter being used for anything more than "ahah I saw this hot chick who had 'pink' across the back of her shorts" is laughable. Only a third world country would rely upon twitter as they're emergency broadcast system... Next thing you know, their entire telco infrastructure will be based on Skype.
I just don't see how taxes can even be in play in this, since (at least in the USA) taxes are added after you've chosen to purchase the item. It's invisible during the shopping aspect, so it's not a direct factor. I'm sure it's a peripheral factor, but it's not one of those "but.. but... but Best Buy's price is 8.5% higher than Amazon!" because of an 8.5% sales tax... This arguments about like one state complaining the state just (north|south|east|west) of them having lower/no sales tax and being unfair. ALMOST like a fat girl complaining that too many girls are "skinny", as well.
Insurance company's roll after that is to offer coverage for things that aren't normally covered. So instead of starting at ground zero, you start with coverage, and have the option to go higher with insurance companies.
No, but it appears you need a lesson in computing in the x86 world. Memory has always been counted in 1024 bytes per kilobyte, 1024 kilobytes equaling a megabyte. This applies to disk, as well. It's a binary translation.
So, by proxy, the person was assuming (jokingly I'd imagine) that the kilo would equal the same number. Thus, 1024 cores equaling 1 kilocore.
If you knew it but were just being snide, then your just pretentious.
You have obviously not worked at the usual 20 employee business with internal intfrastucture setup. Most of the time, it's not a data center, it's a small room with air conditioning and a rack. Live redundancy is something that is not in a business of 20 employees, unless the money's there.
No worries, it's just the glassed over look of "omgZ something different! it's evil!". People will get over it. That being said, it's always best to get the go-ahead from the management before going the route of another piece of software for document handling.
Google Apps isn't a "business in a box", it's web-based applications with communication features between workers. "cloud" only means you don't have to worry about hosting it...
Reminds me of when I was looking for a position in 2001, and quite a few HR were looking for 3-5 years of experience with Windows 2000 and above. They also asked if I had 10+ years of Java experience. I swear to god, you can't make this stuff up... it's just too hilarious.
The largest downfalls of the Atom in general is floating point computations. For me, the eeePC 901 (and what I have now, the Acer Aspire One) are both a perfect form-factor. Except for when I'm doing PHP and PERL, then the 10" screen is a little tight.
I can hear it now, almost a throwback to the 60's... "dangburn newfangled hippies with their free love, free net, free information! Every redblooded {American|Brit} knows you get what you pay for! Can't have vagrants just lolligagging around on the net! The pricetag filters out the hoodlums!"

Given enough time, I'm willing to give that a 100% possibility!

I hate to say this, but the only funding any govt organization gets is from the taxpayer.
it's more of of a situation of the shipping price being added on previous to purchase at brick & mortar, versus like sales tax after purchase.
Yep, gotta love car insurance. Gets pricier, every year.
ohh damn, you got flamebaited by the Utahian committee!
Wait.. what the fuck does socialism have to do with this?

let me correct that for you:
"MS is still really not that great at interoperability with OOo file formats, too."
yeah, like 25+ miles...
not unbikeable, but horrendously time consuming.

That's cloudy thinking :)
So by very definition, any blackbox solution is a "cloud"?
Your "A" solution segment is about like saying "don't fight" when your in Vietnam during the war.
Sometimes, your just thrown into the shit, and you can't help it. (i.e. lose your job, hospitalized extensively, etc)
It's never black and white.

I can speak from experience that the manufacturing of that machine isn't the greatest.
Net neutrality is something that's not even something you talk about... it's just a given, like freedom of speech.
