Obviously you've never been on a college campus. I've seen people overhanging spots, making it impossible to park in the one next to them... or being so crooked that you can't get into or out the spots on EITHER side. From the looks of it, the "new generation" of drivers (and some of the "current" generation... people 30+, etc) don't park well as it is. And yet, if I break their windshield with a brick, I am the one to get in trouble.
Plus my mom can't back a car into her driveway in a straight manner to save her life. I guess this would be nice to have for those places where you need to back into a parking spot to load something in the trunk. I'd say it would be useful, as it appears it would leave room around the car for people to get in and out.
Similarly, you can say "We'll just piss on any CA that goes rogue". It's a lot harder to actually DO if you suddenly discover that the same rogue CA also signed the cert for AOL....
You mean you'd actually want to receive email from AOL?

Even though SCO hates Linux and the GPL, if that text file of their server shell is true:
mail:/usr/share # hostname -f; uname -a
mail.sco.com Linux mail 2.4.19-64GB-SMP #1 SMP Fri Feb 7 16:29:22 UTC 2003 i686 unknown
They run Linux... SMP version even. So I guess Linus can sue them for copyright infringement if they won't follow the GPL? Assuming this is a valid text log. Would a Netcraft report count as evidence?
I agree 100%. I'm not a kernel programmer but my experience with other programming positions is along the same lines.
I am a coder for a MUD. I started out doing the same thing the parent post talks about. I did grunt work. Small bug fixes, small improvements, minor tweaking of here and there. I took any project that came up, even those that nobody wanted. I had the C skills, but had no name made for myself with them. As time went on, I took on bigger and bigger projects and got promoted up the ranks. Now I'm one of the highest ranking coders (#2 IIRC) and still going strong. Of course, I don't get paid for my code, but I'm happy doing it. It's fun, and I enjoy it. Probably the same as kernel programmers who would do the work even if they didn't get paid.
Actually it'll probably end up being that people once again start flailing their arms around and going on about how violent video games are bad for anybody. Nevermind that these kids somehow attained a freaking rifle and nobody seemed to notice until they started shooting at cars on the interstate.
The closest thing to a tractor-trailer in GTA3 was one of the 18-wheeler cabs that drove around. IIRC there's nothing like that in Vice City.
For about a 3 month period I did nothing but play GTA:VC after work until about 2 in the morning. Yet you don't see me going around shooting people in the face through their car windshield (which I did in the game if they rammed me on my motorcycle or something) or randomly punching people on the sidewalk as I ran from the fuzz.
Yeah, I remember when I lost a (supposedly real, I never cheated at PSO) Lavis Cannon and a +60% Dark and +40% machine double saber because some ass hat forced my DC to reboot after invading a passworded game that a friend and I were playing in. Lost everything on my level 80+ character.
The article says that both versions 1 and 2 servers will be taken offline. I was actually surprised over V2, I hadn't heard of that many cheaters or hackers using V2 (mind you, I haven't played either version in ages). Plus the fact you had to pay to play online. I guess the number of people still playing it has dwindled to where it is no longer profitable, or is getting close to that point.
I had an ABit KG7-R with the same controller running a 0+1 array. The controller eventually went bad after about a year and a half. I kept getting errors, BSODs in Win2k, and finally I got a new KX7-R with an HPT372 chip. The saving grace? It recognized my array and immediately booted up. It was a godsend. Haven't had any problems at all since.
If they made some 64bit/66mhz scsi raid 5 controllers I'd probably buy one for the new dual Opteron server I'm gonna build.
Before I get modded down, hear me out. First of all, IANAL.
Here's what would be fun. Find out what product is being sold by what company. Then, talk to a lawyer and see if there is a such thing as "accomplice to identity theft" or something along those lines. Sue the company who's product is being spammed. Profit? Who knows. It might get said company to either dump said spammer or tell them to clean up their act.
True, pure (deionized) water is a poor condutor of electricity, but once you put it into a cooling system, suddenly it isn't pure anymore. Metal ions from the water blocks, pump, even stuff from the tubing will all make it conductive. If you want non-conductiveness and are willing to sacrifice a little cooling power, use mineral oil.
The only real way to prevent leaks is run the system with the computer off for a few days to leak check, and monitor the system for leaks every few months/weeks/days.
Or just don't water cool. There's big risks (bzzzzzt) and good rewards (near-silent cooling, low processor temps, etc). You just have to weigh the good with the bad, like most decisions.
They should do what they did for SSB Melee and have a bunch of characters from different games, like Roy and Marth, for you to unlock. That way there's all kinds of fun... Then maybe they can make Marth swipe his sword around and pop a tire if you do some key combination.
I'm a coder for a MUD (yeah... old skool, sucka). Over the weekend we had some idiots in there who were asking if there were any cheats. I calmly explained to them that the last time there was a major cheat there was a player file wipe (pwipe). Of course they didn't seem to care... Once they realized I was an admin for the game they quickly changed their tune ("Cheats are no fun anyways") after defending their actions to other players who thought they sucked...
My point is non-existant... just that people who try to cheat at MMORPGs or other MMO games suck. Using a cheat in GTA:VC or THPS4 single player or something that doesn't affect an entire gaming community is up to you. But don't do it online.
Did they show you dates? Not that I'm calling you a liar but there have been rumors (just rumors) that SCO isn't showing file dates to NDA signing people, as well as showing modified code.
Interesting to say the least. If you slack off all semester then use this exploit to change your grade, you'd better keep quiet. I'm sure the prof has non-online records to double check your actual grade if he/she gets word of the exploit. You should actually maybe talk to a lawyer, maybe they can help you draft a letter in terms that don't sound threatening... or at least in so much legalese that they won't even be able to decipher who you are.
Best bet (at the risk of being modded redundant) would be to anonymously contact the company. If you want to avoid suspicion, bomb the class a little first so your grade kinda sucks. Just make sure you have a way to bring it back up again;-)
So just use red lights. It doesn't affect night vision in humans (and maybe other creatures too, I dunno), which means people can still see on the streets, as well as see the night sky and all the funkalicious stars.
Sure, right now there isn't enough to buy a controlling interest... but if this is really a pump-and-dump scheme, the execs will be bailing like rats from a sinking ship, which means more stock will be returned to the market for purchase.
Either that or somebody might trade all their stock for a sandwich (Zoidberg!).
In the unlikely event SCO wins, Linux is still far from dead. In order to win, they will have to actually tell somebody (read: a judge and opposing lawyers) where this supposed "stolen code" is. Once that's out, and if it is indeed true, it'll be replaced very rapidly. Problem solved, future releases are in the clear.

considering that we might as well get a laugh out of their demise, nuking an island full of spammers is a perfectly fine idea
Plus, we'd get to see that really cool looking mushroom cloud.
I have my own "audit team." Their names are Legs, Fat Tony, and Mr. Baseball Bat. I'd be happy to "audit" Darl and his cronies.
You forgot to give your reason. I was going to post a similar "When it's released" for the reason "Because I'll always be right"

And no reduction in image size is allowed.
But some people might brave it for some Natural Light... being hammered might make the outage go quicker... although the beer might be warm.

In all technicality the chainsaw didn't appear until Vice City.
But it would be funny to shoot one of their heads off with the sniper rifle...

Personal gain? Let's just hope he's bombing the class...
