    Good points well made.

    Two issues issue you are missing however:

      - recycling reduces VOLUMES of trash. Glass is not a raw material problem, but a landfill one.
      - burning paper in incinerators (Europe style) effectively releases into the atmosphere all the CO2 that the trees absorbed.

    When I were a lad, we used to have to cut down our OWN redwoods, using only a herring. Then file them to pencil shape with nothing but a nail file and inject lead rods with our own, naked, bleeding hands.

    Maybe another, better, version of AdBlock would load the ad into /dev/null and even click on it, again into /dev/null.
    That way, revenue created and surf's clean.

    Metal, Punk, Goth, hippie ... these scenes often provide a place to be accepted for misfits, be they physically or intellectually different. And contrarily to what most grannies think (and here I admit to gross generalisation) these groups are very open to other people, very much less image-oriented than top-of-the-poppers.

    Yeah, my nick gives a pretty good indication to which I adhered. Helped me grow out of my pure nerdy style, a place to put on a mask and be someone new while being out of the dank D'n'D cellar.
