I'm a happy IT manager. And I believe that my team are happy working for me (in a lesser of evils way anyway).
The satisfaction I derive from this job is of course not at all technical, but in the relationship with the team, and the possibility to make real (pointy-haired) decisions. I quite enjoy the turf politics - mainly because I take it all as a game. Admittedly we don't have any layoffs and I'm in a company that cares for employees, so no great social stress.
But people who want to be managers for the fun of it (not just in a climb-the-ladder way) are much much rarer than techies.
Personally, I never hooked on to the project manager job. That's a thankless one.
At a guess, 90% of non-managers in my IT department (of 500) use FF. With IE tab probably, just for those legacy apps which don't know better. ALL developers I have chatted to use FF as primary browser.
But the IT department isn't stupid. They're not going to package FF as an extra cost when IE is part of the OS. Simple, basic economics: FF is an additional cost to IE which is bundled.
"No you can't have another Mars bar you fat slob. Go Away." "Go on, have a smoke. Given your yellow skin, I calculate you'll die of cancer in 6 months. Do us all a favour and clear the world of your sad arse." "You already look constipated, chocolate isn't going to help" "As if somebody with your face is likely to ever use that. Except maybe blow it up and use it as a balloon."

Not really, it's Game, Set & Match for Torrent proxies in the EU, China, India,...
The MPAA will lose their war, whatever happens. Digital means no cost duplication, whatever protection you put in, because something needs to decode the bits & bytes somewhere. That decoder will always be able to provide a decrypted copy.
They should be spending their efforts on finding legal, reasonably priced, distribution methods instead.
But usually a "Wait while JavaFX starts your application" would be enough to keep people connected. It's the not knowing what's going on that's frustrating.

And most "work" users don't care...
Ballmer, not Jobs, dammit!
*splat* (sound of joke falling flat)
In Steeve Jobs' case, "Loose weight" is actually correct.
New Years Resolution for SJ's entourage: screw chairs to floor.

Guess a snob (plus anyone from UK) would go with the first.
Rush.
Hour.
Spend just 45 minutes in rush hour traffic then 1 hour waiting for your neighbours to park their cars.
"-1 Flamebait"?
Extremely few people in Europe give higher cred to Christian "Adam & Eve" than Darwin. Intelligent Design is a North American invention...
We're nerds (scientists), not theologists, what's the flamebait?
"Verb" is a four-letter word.

Just you.

When the definition of cold starts at somewhere about -30 degrees C (just frisky above) one would think they're naturally good at cold warring really.
Nah. Not 8.
They lunch out for two hours also.
