I'm sorry, but SC is simply one of those States you do not want to stay in. Drive through, dont have sex in it, don't surf the net in the library, and don't try to buy beer after 7.
I don't know about you.... but I have to place a big lead sheet over my body when I get an xray. This guy might need to rebuild his desktop file or something;).
Like the subject says...the inside jokes made this movie. You NEED to see Clerks, Mall Ratts, Amy, and Dogma before you see this movie...or your not going to get 75% of the jokes. And these are by far the smartest jokes.
This movie was awesome...if you don't get the humor within it your missing a few brain cells if you ask me. And no, I'm not talking about the dick and fart jokes. (some of which were quite funn though).
Anyone glad that the movie started out with Jays rap from clerks? I love the fact that they kind of went into his head this time and gave him a phat beat. hehe...that was awesome.
First of all, there are 4 Kevin Smith movies that include Jay and S.Bob. Clearks, Mall Rats, Amy, and Dogma.
All 4 of these movies play a big role in the humor embeded within JSBSB. In my mind this is what makes the movie so great. JSBSB is the hub of Smiths other movies, it adds a new time frame to the past 4 movies, links everything together, and makes you recall some of the best jokes of the old movies. ie Snow Ball, Bob & the force, the fact that Donde is getting screwed on that day at work, Chocolet covered pretzels, the "amy story," the "inker" jokes...yada yada yada.
As for the dick and fart jokes. JSB are dick and fart characters. Period. I went to this movie knowing there were going to be a lot of slap stick dick and fart jokes.
Furthermore, a lot of these dick and fart jokes were only there to build upon what you knew from the past 4 movies, and to entertain an viewers that had not watched the past view movies.
This movie was great... it made me think, and yet it didn't at the same time. JSBSB saved summer for me;)
Cal State Sonoma hear in CA (duh) uses lixux box as client computers within the library. they are cheap and they can take the abuse. However I would prefer them to change the windowing system...the machine's are f'n ugly and not the slightest bit user friendly.
Intel... you're painting yourself into a corner with this mhz battle against AMD, Moto, and IBM.

I do agree that tossing out that G4 hardware is a waist (send it to me). However aside from only having 1 full size drivae bay and 1 Zip/Floppy sized bay, the G4 case is one of the best case designs ever. I wish my Athlon had a door and such a great hardware layout.
Even Apple's laptops are easy to get into.
It is a shame the rest of the industry is not catching on. (however compaqs slide out drive bays are kind of cool).
I Already have a 12.ghz Athlon, a Dual450g4, and well... just just bought a 400mhz TiBook yesterday.
It is honestly the coolest looking computer that I have ever used. However I did just see an ad for a compaq rip-off that looks almost identical aside from that big dumb oval logo.
My TiBook is running quite quick for 400mhz. OS X's animations glide on it, the slot load DVD drive is SLICK, it every port (s video, vga, IR, usb, firewire, 100bt, modem, yada yada) you need (aside from audio-in...been replaced for USB audio). I was just running iTunes visuals on my TV last night at a party (damn nuevo hippie kids)... it was cool stuff:).
The screan is nice, however it SUCKS in the light. My old powerbook was much easier to read in bright light. Moreover the monitor tends to distort when you move it a fair amount. It's paper thin and the liquid really becomes affected. Ohh, and I got a dead pixle on my second 2 with the book...errr. But I like it too much to part with it for an anal repair.
I've been very protective of this little guy. It is the kind of notebook that people look at and want to jack from you...which is cool.
Ohh, and for the $2500 400mhz g4 w/ DVD, Apple tossed in a free battery powered USB CDRW so I can burn CDs in my power-less unibomber shack.
My clock keeps going back to 1969...anyone know how to get to that old-folks-hearing-aid-computer-clock battery in the TiBook? Man.. I have NEVER purchased anything over 500 bucks that has worked right. Hehe.
If this was to get embraced as a free standard I would be a glad to learn the technology and impliment it in a few years when browsers supported it on the client side, but I doubt that will happen. These guys are out to make a buck and it is another damn plugin that has to be in a web browser.
We can not go forward in this medium if we continue to do things like this. Most of the time the technology that works for a medium is not necisarily the best technology out there. For example, there are beter video codecs then MPEG 2, but we have decided that the DVD medium will stick to MPEG 2. It would be retarded if I had to update DVD players (or buy new ones) to play different disks. The WWW medium is going to progress a LOT faster if we can stick with marukup languages, programing languages, scripting languages, and media codecs that everyone can read play and develop for. We can always develop with newer cooler tools, however clients DO NOT want to download new browsers download new media players, and install new plugins. This is a fact (with the exception of us geeks).
I am f'n sick of this "We can do it better" bull. The only reason things like DVD players, CD players, Microwaves, TVs, Radios, keyboards, cars, etc work so well is because we have decided to adopt certain standards for at least a decade.
Movies that usually have a title containing "attack of..," "weekend at...," or "bikini.." are usually failr bad movies. I guess Attack of the clones is better then "Weekend Attack of the Bikini Clones," but it's still bad.
Why couldn't it just be called Episode II, The Clone Wars... or something to that degree. Ehh, who am I kiding, I'll still see it... I just hope Jar Jar doesn't get cloned... I'll walk out.
Awesome... I LOVE the fact that you chose Banjo as the name for that box. You guys should check out fucinet.com...they have almost every spaceghost online.
The new 2001 episodes (yes...new episodes) are fairly good. There are only 2, however
old kentucky shark episode is probably the best damn space ghost episode EVER. It's got sharks blowing up, space ghost selling out, etc...good stuff.
Humm... I'd like to download that dock hack...looks like fun:)
And reguarding that guy above... I think most firewire dirves do burn CD's under OS X. I actually have a yamaha drive that burns under X and not 9.
All in all... toast for X is what is needed. It is a much better app. Burning in iTunes is slow. It takes to long to convert MP3s.
Well, I guess I am "in the industry" as a web developer. Yes, I do see more people "asking" for folks with degrees higher then a BA, however your interview, work experiance, and portfolio are what really hold up.
I am strongly against going through more school just to try to get a pay or status raise. If you want to learn something new, yes, go back to school. However if all you are concerned about in life is a nice pay check then you should seriously take a look at how fulfilling your future career will be.
When I hire a good geek I want someone that learned what they learned because they enjoyed it. These are the people that are a good asset to have. People that just got there intiutional requirments burn out. People that did it for the love of the geek-ie-ness continue to grow, bring new great ideas to the table, and as just plain fun to work with.
Now I'm not saying that certs and degrees are not important. They are. But proving to me that you are capable, motivated, and creative is much much more important to me.
Honestly, the folks that make the most money in "tech" jobs are usually the folks that do not have the greatest educations. They are the folks that have motivation, skills, work experiance, and one hell of a resume/portfolio. Hell, I'm a sociology major, Bill Gates was a drop out, and my company's backend database guy was schooled in the US army and makes half a million a year.
I may get my masters some day... if I feel like opening my mind even further. I don't know if it will be in CS or not. I may just contiue to get future certs and keep pushing myself to further ubber-geek-dom at work simply because I enjoy it.
Take a month to really examine the skills you have. Focus those, find what you love, create a resume with goals/accomplishments, and trust me... you will always have nice job and you will never hate work.
But hey... that's the soc major in me talking. It works:)
It'd be nice to get a masters in "spelling"...I still suck at this... sorry for the typos.
Now I have to WAIST a ton of time inserting meta tags within our HUGE web site. I'll probably have to hire some temps with the money our compnay currently does not have.
There should be a meta tag to TURN ON smart tags. Having them on by default hurts me.
**** you microsoft. arrhhhhh!
I'm sorry, but the PS2 is going to be a dead box in about a year. Sony is betting on there PS1 install base and not the easy PS1 API set that made them console kings.
If I was to have a monitor and a keyboard booked up to a console I'd rather have a xbox or a game cube. Might be nice to see yellow dog or linux ppc come to the game cube. That would be kind of fun. I doubt MS would be down with x86 linux on their box... last time I heard linux was "cancer"
Well... I registered today. Let me offically say "hi slashdot"
I personally didn't think mozilla 0.91 would come out this well. As many of you know they added a lot of new features in this build and the nighlys a few weeks ago were tough to say the least.
Mozilla is totally going to rock my little face of once it hits 1.0. I'd like mozilla.org to hold off on dropping in huge new features for a while. Lets make what we have stable. But, hey... it's still looking good.
I would LOVE to see the fizilla project get a little more love. And I'm not talking about the lame carbon builds that are being slapped together... i'm talking about that mach-o beast they never seem to flaunt.
But hey... windows, mac, and linux builds all look nice. Keep up the good work mozilla.org. This is probably one of the only geek webs sites that gives this project love.
I'm sorry, but SC is simply one of those States you do not want to stay in. Drive through, dont have sex in it, don't surf the net in the library, and don't try to buy beer after 7.
I don't know about you.... but I have to place a big lead sheet over my body when I get an xray. This guy might need to rebuild his desktop file or something ;).
Honestly, all I can think of is "what could I tie to that thing?"
It's like I'm 8, I have a box of GI Joes that need to be punished, 1 scram jet engine, and a role of grey duct tape.
Serisously man... this rocks. Esspecially for a web developer. I'll I have to see which codecs it supports though.
Billy, stop playing with the internet lines... you may shock yourself.
if you are lucky enough to have an antenna within your computer you could very well set it up as a wireless hub.
;).
I set up a wireless network consisting of 1 Win2k Athlon, a Dual g4 X tower, and an X TiBook for arround $350.
It's been working fine (as long as the 'puter with the software router doesn't go down). I saved about 300 bucks
Like the subject says...the inside jokes made this movie. You NEED to see Clerks, Mall Ratts, Amy, and Dogma before you see this movie...or your not going to get 75% of the jokes. And these are by far the smartest jokes.

And on a side note. Man..Donte got fat.
Excuse the typos...this is fast...

Ya know, they sell those drug lord metal cases for laptops. The are padded with foam and bullet proof.

Shess MS.... now this is just getting plain silly now.
Midway shouldh'v started to sling coin-op gforce 3 pcs in arcade cases with joy sticks. Could've been a quick buck and kill two birds with one stone.
