I might be mistaken, but I thought google has a 10,000 query limit per IP address per day. So it might be conceivable that enough computers over several days could get it, though I imagine it wouldn't be trivial

I think this is mentioned in Google Hacks by O'Reilly. Those with an online account there can check it out and mock me if I'm wrong :)

Too extreme to whom? Libertarian style government was what the US had for nearly the first 100 years. No debt. Until the board of education was created around 1950, US was ranked 1st in the world in math and science. 50 years later... something like 20th and falling. Social Security, a bloated pyramid scheme. FDA? Making drugs cost 8-10 billion to bring a drug to market, thereby making it impossible for most people to afford without national health care, which in turn lowers everyones spendable income.

What's becoming too extreme is everyone turning to the government to fix all their damn problems...

    Ignorance can be astounding sometimes...

    1. Sure, experience in other offices helps, but a 3rd party candidate shooting for high offices will always lose in an entrenched 2 party system.

    2. Badnarik may not have held an office with a little name sign on his door, but has been studying the US constitution for over 22 years now. In fact, he teaches an 8 hour class on the constitution, which is available online for your viewing pleasure. He's been teaching it now for at least 4 years, but possibly more. I bet senator Kerry and presient Bush couldn't even tell you what article of the US constitution describes their position, much less what it actually says their powers are.

I could go on, but it's not worth my time. Libertarians actually go after a lot of this country's problems from the fundamental root, rather than using broad sweeping generalizations like "a safer america is what we want".

It would be stupid to port windows if the games didn't work through some sort of emulation. I mean, aren't all windows programs compiled for x86 only (mostly, not all), and thus would require some sort of emulation otherwise it would be a useless OS?

Point taken though, i should've been more thorough in my post.

The only advantage that I see is the possibility of dual booting. This would solve the age old problem of "not having enough games on the mac". That being said, you can see why microsoft would NOT want to port it to the PPC, as it would only give them a paltry increase in sales, while making the mac platform that much more enticing. And let's face it, microsoft has ZERO control over the devlopment over apple's hardware.

I know there are other PPC vendors than apple, but it's the one we all think about when discussing these "port this OS to that architecture" questions.

Please. 1500 channels? There is absolutely no need for this many channels, except for the cable/satellite channels to bundle them all together for "value" and keep prices artificially high. I live in Boston and subscribe for comcast cable. If I had the option, I would only turn on 15 of these channels.

Another key point, is increasing the number of channels does not mean there will be an increase in quality programming. This will only dilute the few good shows and force them to piss off customers with "I have 1500 options and they all suck!" syndrome. Oh great, more local cable access channels that no one will watch.

Ugh. Just give me the daily show with jon stewart, aqua teen, and family guy (summer 2005 baby!) and i'll be happy. And it sure as hell doesn't need to be in high def.

whynot.net already came up with a very elegent and clever solution that gets around any sort of GPS, odometer, tracking measures.

Solution? Put it in the cost of gasoline.

Think about it. You need gas to drive the damn thing, you can't skirt around that issue. So the more you drive (and thus the more gas you use) the more you are paying for insurance. Now granted, this has a few flaws, namely that it is the lowest common denominator insurance. But perhaps that's a good thing. Additional coverage and plans above the standard could be purchased above and beyond what the baseline covers and would be strictly voluntary.

Totally agree here. This game, and X-COM UFO defense are my 2 most favorite games of all time. True, it is a shame that this genre died out (or at least appeared to). Probably the biggest reason is that games of this nature gain nothing by the use of "STATE OF THE ART, 3D TECHONOLOGY!", which game developers have been using as their major selling point. Sure the game sucks to play, but look how realistic the blood splatters out of the Zorg soldiers!

Plus, maniac mansion required a very creative story line, as well as multiple endings, etc. Which must have really pushed the envelope for systems like the old NES.
