Great way to stereotype wal-mart customers. If it was wal-mart down the street instead of Ralph's I would shop there. I live in possibly the only (urban) area in the country where wal-mart is 40 minutes away.
Also, if they were selling a friggin' HD-DVD player for 200 friggin' bucks, I would drive there from here.
especially because if they were to do it even joe sixpack would recognize it as a corrupt government forcing them to pay a huge kickback to electronics manufacturers. It's more like a big spectrum grab on the part of the FCC. Keep in mind this won't affect anyone who has cable, and that's almost everybody. I really don't think the electronics manufacturers were the ones that asked for this. Blame the TV folks, the wireless providers, or any other user of spectrum if you want.
You should've bought more Itaniums then. Seriously, though, x86 has a lot of cruft, but modern code is not too much different from other architectures, and the various extensions keep adding new features. Who cares about instruction encodings?
All the thinkpads seem to come with Vista business. Out of curiosity (I'm thinking of upgrading myself), what does Business lack that you're looking for?
I've *heard* that you can do an in-place upgrade to Ultimate. Of course they'll charge ya a few bucks.
I was able to configure a thinkpad with close to those specs for $1550 (14in screen not 13.3). Not sure how much the Mac costs, but I'm sure it wouldn't be the base $1200 one.
So don't dump your BofA cookie. You're security conscious so you can handle that. By you I mean our theoretical paranoid person. For the rest of us it's more secure.
Yeah. The same people who won't let me buy an Xbox on my debit card allowed somebody to steal my online password/hack into their site and write themselves a check (through BillPay, which I did not have turned on or ever use) for nearly the entire contents of my bank account. Then they blamed me.
Some other people have been calling you on your numbers. I won't. The government stole our money. That we can can agree on. Join us libs and oppose taxation.
I'd like to point out that the 360 makes a lot less noise when the CD isn't spinning, although it's hardly silent. You're better of playing a 360 download or a rip from media center than a DVD.
Plasma TVs are made of glass. The resolution does have to be scaled. SD content looks just as good as an SDTV of the same size. It was the old TVs that left black areas between scan lines that sucked.
I am writing on a lappy running Vista. I worked on my grandparents' Windows ME machine earlier tonight. Vista is no ME. Yes, Vista is slow to startup and shutdown, but I've seen no Aero-related slowdown, save for playback of video which is easily worked around by using VLC instead of Media Player. Machines that can run it all, it seems, can handle the load.
I haven't seen a reduction in functionality. Of course, I haven't played any HD-DVDs either, mostly because I don't have an appropriate drive. Vista is not ME, it's XP Second Edition.
I used to use DeadAIM on windows and gaim on Linux. Then I downloaded the newest AIM, having gotten a new laptop. One look made me want to puke. I believe it was silver. I downloaded gaim for windows, but AOL cuts me off every hour or so. Deal, as long as I don't have to use their client.
Don't even get me started on MSN/Windows Messenger.

If you're a Chinese manufacturer trying to make and HD player as cheaply as possible, which one would you choose? I think the answer is obvious.
...but I thought we were paying for the cost of making the movies. That's why we're not supposed to pirate, right?
They lie.

This is not a blip. AMD has not made money in at least 5 years, if ever. Why would anyone invest in a company that never makes money?
...but can you watch the movies? Perhaps after you strip the DRM off with fairplay4wm.

I'm not sure if it'll fix our etrade and movielink problems, though.
Yeah, and bittorrent runs on Linux.

I have no phone you insensitive clod!

They'd have to also get Microsoft's signing key, for the same reason I'm not afraid to download non-public hotfixes from sketchy websites.

Why is that? The price of electronics in GB appalls me and I'm a yank.
Yeah, but they'll have to put all the data on the PS3 disc twice to overcome the crappy load times.
Some other people have been calling you on your numbers. I won't. The government stole our money. That we can can agree on. Join us libs and oppose taxation.
Are you saying you paid $100 total and got it all back or you paid $100 bi-weekly and only got $100 back. Neither way makes more sense than the other.

Hope you have a progressive scan set with component in. No composite on AppleTV.

The undisputed kings of textual messaging are SMS and its equivalents outside the US. The rest I'll give you.
