"Sega's one redeeming endeavor has been the portable titles. The Sonic Advance series has at least replicated the original Sonic experience about as much as the GBA could, and Sonic Rush on the DS was probably the best Sonic game in over a decade. (Although, the really botched the new Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis for the GBA)
Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush are essentially the only Sonic games since the Genesis (sans the initial buzz of Sonic Adventure) that the majority of hardcore fans have actually spoke positively about. One would think that maybe Sega would try to go back bringing the series back to its roots more in order to succeed."
First of all, I want to thank you all for your contributions, corrections, and suggestions. As I mentioned in the article, this is a bit of work in progress.
I will be adding many of the suggested games -- some of which I was very aware of, but just slipped my mind.
As mentioned by somebody earlier, this was mainly for console games as that is what I am most familiar with and because of their limited and standard resources.
Also, be sure to keep an eye out for part 2 (and possibly 3 & 4). Not only am I planning on continuting with the era between the Jaguar and the Dreamcast, but I am also planning on doing a section on Handhelds such as the Gameboy, and possibly another misc section.

Wow -- how'd I end up on Slashdot? Not that I'm complaining:)
Anwyay, I must confess, I'm not a big PC gamer and my site primarily covers console games. So that would explain a lot of PC games missing from the list.
As for the Sonic CD comment, I realize that Sonic Rush is a quality game, but I'm waiting for a full 2D console game that makes the most of the hardware.
I love the Dreamcast too, but the current releases of MAME for the DC can only run older games at regular speed. Apparently the X-Box does a much better job
I haven't used Open Office yet, but was wondering how the performance is? Loading? Use of System Resources? How does the Windows port compare in performance to MS Office 97 and 2000? I'm running a Thinkpad with 266 Pentium, 96MB RAM.
Amen brother! Apple always seems to fine tune all the little things about their machines that many people take for granted. And, of course, they look good too. Just can't wait get a new Mac for myself!
I love Sega games, but all my favorites will be spread among XBox, PS2, and GameCube.
So... for now Dreamcast is a great system to play all of the originals on one system. And for $50 for the system and about $8-$20 a game (eBay and other places) you can't complain.
Dude!
Just do a little investigating and you'll find that Dreamcast has a ton of awesome and addicting titles that most systems don't have.
(Sega makes a good deal of them)
Just to name a few...
Jet Grind Radio
Space Channel 5
Sonic Adventure 1 and 2
Shenmue
Soul Caliber
Virtua Fighter 3tb
Sega GT
Lots of good Capcom titles (Resident Evil, Street Fighters)
All the Sega Sports titles

Hey guys -- thanks for posting my article on Slashdot.a n-bring-sonic-hedgehog-back.html
I've followed up on the original article with my thoughs on what Sega could do to bring Sonic back to his former glory while making the most of the modern consoles

Sorry guys, I did lift some of it temporarily to add on the Chu Chu part up real quick. I'm revising it now.
actually, it was a Saturn game.
I would have been incredible if they would have done a Dreamcast sequel
I just added it :) :)
I need more free time to expand these things
Thanks again to Slashdot for your support!

Pixar still has a few movies left in their contract with Disney.
Note to Pixar: Keep up the good work, but don't sell out!

And I don't regret paying $100 for my DC
