They DON'T think IE5.5 is compliant. I think there was a Slashdot article last week that pointed to the slam they gave it.

Um, two flavors of Slayers? Last I checked, there were Slayers, Slayers Next, and Slayers Try, plus at least one OAV. Really funny series, though the second and third subseries are funnier than the first.

Worst of all, I heard a nasty rumor that Yoko Kanno's music isn't going to be in the Fox... what could they possibly replace it with? It was one of my favorite things about the series.

Maybe they'll replace it with some of the same shit our own TV shows use. Damn, I'm glad I have the subbed tapes.

IE still does a better job than anything else available now. I can't wait for Mozilla, but it's taking them SO FREAKING LONG to come out with a final release.

That BUGGED me when I heard that after watching the fansub. Lip synch or not, that particular character was turned from a normal human into one of Disney's make-the-kids-laugh male stooges. If I remember the dub properly, he had a bunch of other really really dumb lines, too.

Heh, my thoughts exactly. :) I'd kinda like to see OS X on X86 architecture, but not at the expense of anything else. I personally find MacOS more difficult to use than, well, just about anything else, but Aqua looks so neat that I would probably buy a copy just to play with it.

Of course, that begs the question: How well would MacOS do with dual-booting? Anyone using Linux PPC want to answer that one?

Amen. This is the thing that bothers me the most about the result of the lawsuit: Everyone keeps trumpeting the newfound competition that the breakup will bring, but the proposed pieces of MS aren't making the same things! As such, how can they possibly be competing with each other? I agree with the scale of the punishment, but this particular punishment is idiotic and useless.

Worse than that, Adobe's software doesn't even run overly well on Windows, most of it being originally written for MacOS. I don't much like Adobe either, but the Unix versions are crippled Windows versions which are crippled Mac versions of the original software.

What's so unfortunate about the fact that the author has *gasp* remained levelheaded and decided not to drag nVidia into court? If he's satisfied with their removal of his code from theirs, then that's that. I don't think anyone else has much right to complain. If you're that pissed off about it, YOU sue him. Don't make it sound like the author of the code is somehow letting down the open-source community by not suing someone who wrongfully used HIS code.

Mystic Quest, as far as I know, was kind of a bastard child of the series. It was aimed at newbie RPGers, and was pathetically easy. It was a cute game, but certainly lacked the depth of FFs 4-8. Had some great music, though.

Oh, and Final Fantasy Adventure for the Game Boy (lest someone ask) was actually the first in the Seiken Dentetsu series, the sequel to which was Secret of Mana in the US. At least, I'm pretty sure. The third in the series wasn't released here, but a group translated the ROM and it's fairly easy to find.

So what constitutes fair use of a DVD in your eyes -- besides simply buying a DVD and using one of the MPAA's authorized players?

Any use by which you buy it at a price. [emphasis mine]

In other words, once we've shelled out for this little disc, you want us to keep paying over and over? The part that's really scary is that he really seems to believe what he says. He really DOES seem to think that each viewing should equate to buying a movie ticket at the theater.

Does this make him evil? I don't know. Before this article, I would have said yes, but now I'm really not sure. I don't think he believes he's being a bastard to all the consumers out there, only that he's doing what's best for his industry. Not that it makes it right, but I don't think I can condemn him quite as easily as I could before.
