How about sub-lingual sounds or movements of the throat muscles? I'm sure that this type monitoring would be somewhat intrusive, not to mention expensive, but if they had something like this, I just mught give it a whack. By the way, this is Orson Scott Card's idea, from his book "Speaker for the Dead." Probably thought of by others as well.

  4. Cox Cable San Diego: Letter to Customers on Chapter 11 For Excite@Home · · Score: 1

    Dear Cox @Home Customer,

On Friday, September 28, 2001, Excite @Home announced that it
filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and plans to sell its
high-speed network to AT&T. Excite @Home is Cox's partner in
providing high-speed Internet access service to Cox @Home
    customers.

We have no reason to believe that these bankruptcy proceedings
will have a negative effect on your Cox @Home Internet
connection or email service. Chapter 11 allows Excite @Home to
continue its operations while restructuring its business. In many
cases, the restructured business emerges from Chapter 11 stronger
than before and resumes normal operations either independently or
as part of a larger company. In this case, AT&T has announced
that it intends to operate and, after a period of time, take over the
Excite @Home network and continue uninterrupted service for all
    @Home customers.

Several months ago, Cox began preparing a strategic plan to
exercise a greater degree of control over many of the components
that make up our high-speed Internet service. The current events
surrounding Excite @Home have accelerated this initiative. The
recent bankruptcy filing by Excite @Home and the announcement
by AT&T of its intentions to acquire Excite @Home's network
assets does not change Cox's plans in any way. In fact, we are
committed to working with both Excite @Home and AT&T to
ensure that service remains reliable and consistently of a high
    quality.

We will continue to keep you apprised of any developments that
might affect your service. However, we will continue to take all
steps necessary to continue to provide you with the high level of
service you have come to expect from Cox Communications.

    Thank you,
    The Cox @Home Team

Just checkin'. When I check out Bear Share, I find dozens of listings for a (listed as) new single called, "You Rock My World". Is this the same song as the one mentioned in the article? Which is the correct title? I'm quite used to songs being uploaded by file-sharers having the wrong title, artist, etc. I'm not a big Jocko (bringin' the nick back from the 80's hole it fell into) fan, just wanted to see if this was the one that was supposedly copy-proof. I laugh in advance of being told that it is.

First thing I'm going to do as new cabinet appointee to Homeland Security is get rid of that pesky search warrant thing, following which I think maybe I'll snoop on anyone who has been curious about exactly what's inside the Anarchists Cookbook, because you know that there's no one who downloads a book like that out of mere curiosity (I did, 2 weeks ago, and it was out of curiosity). And while I'm at it, if I find a cookie for a porn site which contains child pornography, I'll get you for that, because it's not like you would've accidentally clicked on a button on a website which takes you to seedy sites without your intending (which happens to my non-computer-savvy wife daily). I don't know where you've been, but your rights are slipping away.

  9. letter from cox@home to san diego customers on Cox And Comcast To Dump @Home · · Score: 1

    Dear Customer,

This week, we notified Excite @Home that we have exercised our right to terminate our
existing agreement, with the termination to take effect on June 4, 2002. By taking this
action, Cox will have the ability to acquire greater control over our network and to
assume many of the responsibilities currently held by Excite @Home. We anticipate
that we will work together with Excite @Home to smoothly transition these
responsibilities between now and June 4, 2002.

Our number one priority is continuing to deliver reliable high speed Internet service to
you. the recent announcements that Excite @Home has issued regarding its financial
status have strengthened our belief that our notice of termination was necessary to give
us the flexibility we need to make alternative arrangements to provide high speed
Internet service to our customers. By managing more elements in our high speed
Internet service, we will be in a much better position to control the quality of our
service and deliver greater customer satisfaction.

Several months ago, Cox began preparing a strategic plan to exercise a greater degree
of control over many of the components that make up our high speed Internet service.
The current events surrounding Excite @Home have simply accelerated this initiative.
The Cox-managed service to which we will be transitioning may include a role for
Excite @Home; however, any such role will be defined by a new agreement.

At this time, we do not plan to institute any immediate changes to the features and
functions we provide through our existing Cox @Home service, although we do believe
that between now and June 4, 2002, there will be some modifications. Please know that
we will make every effort to make this transition as smooth as possible, and that we will
notify you of any action or changes in advance. Our primary goal is to provide you
with the high quality, reliable, high speed Internet service you have come to enjoy.
