    Flash came with my system, so I'm pretty sure that's the way it will be updated when Adobe officially releases it.

    I don't care that you can fix that by installing Flash 10 beta, or some extra library, the fact is that it does not work out of the box.

    How do you propose they fix anything without requiring the user to update their software? Magic?

    The clause was likely intended to prevent someone from running a copy of windows in a VM on some super-powered server or something.

    Why would MS care about that? What does it matter what sort of hardware the OS is running on, and how does being in a VM make a difference.

    I would guess the point of the clause is to prevent someone from using one license to run several instances of Windows at the same time.

    Corporate web filtering tends to be retarded in general. I just noticed yesterday that my work blocks Google Notebook claiming it's a "personal storage" website, or some such nonsense. Thankfully gmail, which unlike notebook is actually used by people for transferring files, is still available.

    What do you mean by the normal industry use of large files? In Solaris at least "large files" means anything over 2GB. That's not so hard to reach with TV recordings.

    Does anyone have any idea exactly what settings windows is saving when it shuts down? I've never seen another OS that does that and I can't come up with any explanation of what they hell it's doing.

    VxFS is the only FS that I've used that can be resized while mounted

    The comparison with 100 year old steam trains isn't fair. Those steam trains are under constant maintenance to keep running while your RAM or CPU use the same set of components for their whole lifetime.

    Yeah, task manager is sweet. A bunch of my tabs were hanging a few minutes ago so I pulled up the task manager and found out the flash plug in was acting up. I killed it and got all my tabs back instantly. Nice.

    Since when has a successful political campaign in America not been full of vague promises and appeals to emotion? That's what you need to appeal to a distressingly large percentage of the electorate. The thing is that the intelligent voters are able to tune that out and listen to the real message. Are you unable to do that? I'm afraid if that's all you're able to understand then the problem may not be with Obama.

    Problem is, we are short on capacity (we still haven't recovered all that was lost in Katrina)

    What's the reason for that? It's been three years and the oil companies have been operating with record profits all the while. What's keeping them from repairing the damaged plants?

    It's not that environmentalism is a bad thing; it isn't. However, only a complete moron would ever question the environmental impact of a train versus highways or airlines.

    You are missing the point. It's not that anyone isn't sure that as far as energy use and carbon emissions goes the train will be better, the point of the environmental impact study is to determine if their are any especially environmentally sensitive areas that should be routed around.
