They're busting their asses, putting their time, money, and reputations on the line trying to bring Linux to the masses. Its their distro so cut them a break or roll your own distro and enumerate the releases Mozilla style...
I have quite few problems since installing SP1 for XP. XP now insists that the wireless connection is down even when I'm sufing the net and periodically I get conflicting IP address errors that only rebooting my Linksys router can fix.
It took just a little bit of troubleshooting but after switching to channel 7 on my Linksys Wirelss AP/router, I have NO interference from my Sony 2.4 ghz phone or my microwave. Of course the tinfoil armor around the phone and microwave might have something to do it...
Honestly is the interference such a problem w/ 802.11b? It sure isn't in my case. Maybe it's jsut part of a marketing push for 802.11a so the manufacturers can concentrate on one standard. Anyone here have any experience w/ HomePlug? I'de love to hear about it if you've installed it.
What do you base that statement off of? Revolvers may not look as "cool" as a Desert Eagle but they work, they're reliable and in the hands of the right person nearly as fast to reload as an autoloader. Simple, reliable, and here to stay. Take a look or actualy shoot a Freedom Arms revolver and you'll see what I mean.
I would love to get my hands on a new Imac or Powermac and show it some sweet loving but my home built Athlon running Redhat runs just fine and I uhhh just don't have the $$$. It's also cheap and readily upgradeable. I hope I'll be able to afford an Apple when I get out of the military and get a "real" sysadmin job paying a little more than the Marines.
Superyooser, can you have God talk to me about the age of Earth? I'm sorry but I'd rather hear from him than you. How about God clarifying his his thoughts on the subject once and for all? In public that is.
Sorry. "You don't know what you're talking about" was an older post I made on another subject. Don't know why it got in there. What I meant to say was Wyoming represents!
My wife has the exact same model. I'm guessing you can't get the display set up for 1600x1200 properly either. Too bad. I almost bought a Sony but when Dell was phasing out the P3s in favor of the P4, there was some deals to be had. Dual batteries for almost 6 hours of battery time, 15" UXGA display at 1600x1200, 40 gig hard drive, and my beloved Raeon 7500 64MB DDR videocard for $1538. Let me know if you ever get that display fixed
Well, hell. I tried. My D-Link works like crackerjack. The hermes.conf file combined w/ iwconfig does work. Linuxquestions.org usually can help you but you do have to have patience. Try Linux again when the next round of distributions come around. Or post on Linuxquestions and see if anybody's gotten that Linksys up. Good luck anyway.
Well, I can tell you that wireless does work fine on my Inspiron 8100. Do a little Googling or better yet go to www.linuxquestions.org and search for hermes.conf Also, wireless tools should be included by default on a Redhat 7.3 install. Try searching for the mysteries of iwconfig. It's not your GUI "new wireless connection" button but it does seem to do the trick since it's working for me right now. Seriously, this hermes.conf fix has been around for a long time.
As long as you go w/ proven components, you should have no problems. Ask the guys at the shop what THEY recommend. Spend a little time checking to see if the motherboard you're thinking of buying has a lot problems as posted on boards and forums. I just built a computer for my wife's best friend and using proven components, I felt entirely comfortable helping her to decide how to spend her $$.
My Dell 1Ghz PIII w/ the ATI 64 MB DDR card NEVER uses the fans unless I'm running Kazaalite and Return to Castle Wolfenstein at 1600x1200 and the power is low. That's it. Amazing how some Apple guys are just as prejudiced as the anti-Apple guys. By the way, I got this notebook w/ 52 RAM and a 40 gig hard drive for $1651. What kind of Apple laptop could I get for that much?
Damn. I lash out at Katz and you lash out at me for picking on geeks or somehow insulting them. Are you sure you're not just bitching about society in general? By the way, in case you haven't been looking there's quite a few people who think Katz's little review doesn't belong here. Whether it's the subject matter or simply Katz himself I don't know. By the way, I consider myself a geek too.
The Antec is awesome! Space for LOTS of fans and removeable bays for your 3.5" drives, and a locking side door. You can get it for under a $100 w/ a good power supply off of pricewatch.com Email me if you want to know more.

So you ARE going to tell us about the pros and cons of switching back from 80.11a to 80.11b? I, for one, wold like to hear them.

Get up an hour earlier and run 3 miles or better yet SWIM! Swim at least a 1000 meters (20 laps) a day and eat what you like and stay in shape.

You actually measure your manhood by the OS you use?
I doubt the GM will let the GTO beat their Corvette flagship but how do they compare?
This is more comparable to modifying your V6 to get more performance out of it. You're trolling, right?
Sorry. "You don't know what you're talking about" was an older post I made on another subject. Don't know why it got in there. What I meant to say was Wyoming represents!
You work for Wyoming.com?
Why do you troll so much? Are you really that bored? I won't even bother sending you benchmarks.
I have the same model and I love it! What distro are you running? Redhat 7.3 SEEMS to run fine but I'm a newbie still
