Best Buy has a great selection but their sales staffs' primary mission is to push those extended warranties. Ignorant salespeople who push extended warranties and give bad advise on expensive purchases are bad for the consumer by wasting their $ and bad for the store by contributing to those long lines you see at the Returns counter. Case in point: bought a Fujitus laptop for the wife. Was assured that it had dedicated video memory. Before we could get away we had to be harangued w/ "these laptops WILL break, you NEED our warranty" and "these things run slow from the factory and our techs will give it a performance increase for $65". Adding to the guy trying to sell me PC100 memory upgrade for a 133 mhz bus computer. Took it home, checked memory, noticed there was 8 megs of the 512 missing (shared video!) and we returned the computer the next day since we found a bad pixel. Took our $, went to Circuit City and bought a Sony VAIO w/ no trouble or sales pitches at all.
I CANNOT stop or filter those emails about how you can "earn" your degree based on you life experience. Anybody had any success tracking them down/stopping them? I called the phone # on the email and left my name and cell phone # like the answering machine said in hopes of formally requesting removal from their mass emailer but callback yet.
I would say it's highly likely that Fry's is waiting for the new release having sold all of their 8.1 boxed sets. As someone else mentioned above me, ever heard of Best Buy? Or perhaps WalMart?

8.2 RC1 rocked! I can't wait to go home and try 8.2 Has any Slashdotters had any luck getting wireless to work in Mandrake 8.2? I can get wv_lan.cs loaded and the card starts blinking but entering my ESSID and auto or managed doesn't work, Anyone who got their box up using wireless I would appreciate your help. Also, if there's a work around so that I can use my wireless Intellimouse, please send some help. You can reach me at baxshep@cox.net
