Oh great - I bet Hollywood lawyers are salivating at this. There are many countries in the world where downloads and uploads are no big deal and not criminal - so long as there's no commercial gain from it. "Financially rewarding" people for uploads will criminalize a whole group who currently are not breaking the law.

Because unfortunately there is a lack of volunteers willing to give up their living brains to be sliced up for study. Most of what we have learned about the functionality of brains has come from war wounds and tumors. It's one thing to see stained neurons in a microscope or watch patterns on a PET/MRI, and another to experience "if this bit of brain isn't working, then this stops happening, so this must be wired into that, that and that".

There is more than one perk to government jobs. And government employees have ALWAYS been granted back pay in previous "shut downs". So quit it with the "poor government employee" sob story. They should shut up and enjoy their extra vacation time. They have one of the easiest, cushiest, perkiest, hardest to be fired out on your ass even for the grossest incompetenciest jobs in the world. Boohoo I never put $10 away in my life for a rainy day and all my credit cards are maxxed and no relative wants to lend me a buck whiners need to get a fucking job at McDonald's for a couple weeks in the meantime. But no - that's REAL work.

High skilled people who joined the government, lol. I studied 11 years AFTER high school, not including high school, just to be allowed to do what I currently do and I can lose it all with ONE mistake AND go to prison to boot. I'm high skilled. The woman that yells "next" at the DMV, she's not high skilled. And it's NON ESSENTAL personnel like her, who is "shut down". Not the fucking head IT guy at the Pentagon.

I'm pretty sure the time at which the battery is to be charged is set by user preference. It's not the battery that increases emissions, it's the owner of the battery who wants to reduce cost as a priority. It is more important to have a few extra bucks a month to spend on more consumption and pretend to be doing something worthwhile for the environment, than actually do something worthwhile for the environment. However this article tries to blame the battery by hiding the facts under the weasel words "Under current policies". Hey anything to bring down Musk, because if OrangeMan is Bad, Musk is Satan himself. How about the combination battery + solar panels. How does that affect emissions? I had never heard of Huawei until I moved back to Costa Rica earlier this year. I was basically GIVEN two of their phones by the local phone company - they're that cheap. And they're pretty good. I don't use them because I still have my Samsung but I had a look at them. Given what they offer (a lot) for what they cost (almost nothing), I can understand why the US cell phone market is shaking in its boots. This is not so much about spying and 100% about the oligopolies making sure they don't lose market share. Anyway, I have 2 spare phones.
