I've had serious issues with ethernet cards on 2.4 kernels. Several diffrent card with diffrent drivers have just died after some time of use, requring a reboot to ressurect. This has never happend with the same cards on 2.2 kernels.
If bloated means dynamically allocating memory instead of silently failing or crashing, then I guess GNU software is bloated. Some of us like it that way though.
How come people constantly fail to "get" the GPL? It is designed to give users maximum amount of freedom, it does not take any special steps to give the author a special status. I like this, but I can see how people who don't really care about free software, but rather does it so they can take away users freedom once thay have people locked in don't like it.
If they take advantage of how the eye views color, how does that affect those of us who are colorblind? I read somewhere that 1 in 10 males have some sort of color perception problem.
I've been using Ion for about 6 months now. It has completly ruined me for other windowmanagers. Every time I end up in front of a stupid "normal" wm, i'm totally lost. It seen like I spend most of my time arranging windows on one of those instead of doing real work.
Because when you don't use the crap shit in C++ you end up with C.
But I don't use non-free software

Well, aside from the fact that Emacs is a far superior editor, it should also be noted that vim is not free software (even though it somehow managed to weazel its way into Debian main).
Besides Emacs can emulate vim, can vim do the other way round?
The NSA does NOT have access to every encrypted mail sent on the internet. There are not enough supercomputers around to crack them all. Maybe they can crack a few per day when it is real important, but most people are not important enough.

Hrm. Last I checked, decent-looking text wasn't exactly eye-candy
Well, AA text only gives us flashness, not readability. Well-designed (and well-implemented) fonts is what is needed.
While DIY is the core of open source, it's also one of open source's major faults.
So, pony up the buck and I bet you'll find someone who'll do it for you.
Maybe the gnome developers have stuff to do that is actually useful, instead of spending time on eyecandy. DIY if you want it.

One problem is proprietary software like qmail which is open source but no more free to change than something like MS office.
Does this mean that there will be no more new ideas this year? I guess i'll just take a vacation then.
Why is it always "a friend of mine sat next to RMS at a dinner"? Why can't people come out and say "I hate RMS, so I made up this story"?
Uhum, that would be b-DEL if you use a good mail program

More substance than ol' Ben.

Well, the point is that big brother shouldn't have access.
Besides, NSA are not the only ones who can afford big computers.
THEY are out to get you. Beware of black choppers and remember to always wear a tinfoil coverage on your nose.
