  1. Questions still left unanswered !!! on Matrix Sequel Delayed to 2003 · · Score: 1

I agree that most sequels never messure up, but I see it as trillogy, there where so many un answered questions from the first one . But even so it is always done for the money. The second one will clean house just beause all the original fans will flock to see it to see if it measures up, but it never does. The third will still be a block buster because we want to see how it ends. It's like watching a movie all the way to the last 5 minutes and never knowing what happened, the human mind can not resist.

  2. DSL and WHY it will suck. on Rhythms Flatlines · · Score: 1

Eventually it will come to this folks :
1)AOL/Time Warner/ATT/Comcast/(insert another mega corporation, maybe Microsoft) Cable modems. (Then it will be un cool to have a cable modem through AOL cause AOL sucks(which is true) ).
    2) Verizon/Name your Regional Telco will be the only DSL provider, it's there backbone anyway, it's only a matter of time).
    3) MCI/Verizon/Sprint/Cable will be the only players left providing the Tier 1 back bones.
4)Satelitte, again controled by mega corp!
    5) Dialup again. Verizon/AOL/Earthlink/Juno, I see Earthlink and Juno merger, then AOL buying them then it will be AOL/VERIZON.
    6) Wirless, now even though with the recent Security flaw with wirless 802.11 WEP, This is the only viable solution I would like to see take off.
    Let me Explain
We need to start a completely free net based on wireless where companies have no control. It would be for free information much like old BBS's. With wireless we dont need any Mega Merger greedy companies in the mix. Wirless net would be much easier to setup for the common folks, who has the money to run wire anyway. It would save millions of tree's from being cut down(telephone poles), easier to fix after a natural disaster, just set up a few replacment access points, it would be accessable from anywhere, and it would not be owned by anyone. Sounds like a dream .....
It's a sad day when the Corporations have more control and influence then the government.

  3. WIndows XP on NCSA To Build $53 Million, 13-Teraflop Facility · · Score: 0, Troll

Now I wonder if we will be able to run Windows XP Luna interface without a problem. - Not a Troll ! Does anyone miss the hardcore command shell days, I remember BBSing, being a SySop, now those were the days!
Maybe they will put this system to good use, like finding cures, mapping human DNA, or the million other positive things. But you have to ask your self, I live in 2 bed room apartment and my BGE (gas and electric) is almost $200 a month, I dare not imagine what the bill will be for this thing !

Fully understood AC, I am a 19 year old male, and I understand that office pollitics play a bigger part then what you know, I dont think I would be able to survvive if I did not play the office pollitics game. I dont run and cry to mommy or piss my pants either, FYI.

  5. What about me ???? on The Rise Of The 15-Year-Olds · · Score: 0, Offtopic

I was 15 only 4 years ago. I have no college degree(started towards my AS in CS this fall)but manage to make $65k a year running a furtune 500 company network. I don't think age has anything to do with it, it is the desire and dedication and love for something that drives a person. I was the same way 4 years ago, smarter then the 25 year old, but looked down upon because I was so young. I still get the same treatment sometimes, but now I get a lot of "wow" and "damn, your only 19, that is great", my current boss is pushing me hard towards college, and getting my certifications...I only hope to be a millionair by 27 not because it looks cool, but so I can help those that helped me, parents, siblings, teachers, and to buy a nice home :) We can all have our dreams can't we ? ..... on another note, my co-worker just turned the big 30, and I am scared of turning 20, I feel like I will lose my edge ..... these things we must do.

  6. It was Free Kevin, now it will be Free Sklyarov on Earth to Media: This kid is still in jail · · Score: 1

The only way that this will not turn into a "Free Kevin" is if the Russian government demands that Sklyarov be released and allowed back to Russia. But as I see it, he will more then likely be in jail for the next 5 or so years just as Kevin was, to be made an example of. We need to do something quickly.

  7. Comcast @Home in Maryland on Comcast Bidding To Buy AT&T's Cable-Modem Unit · · Score: 1

I have had @Home for almost 8 months now, and I must say I am very happy with it. Upstream could be a bit faster but it is still better then everyone else's offerings.

When I had the modem installed in December( at the time they did not offer self installs) the tech came in ran the cable from the living room to the computer-room( no cost, would have cost more $ to add another jack)and saw all the computers. The tech asked my permission for everything, ie: "What pc you want this to go to?, then said I dont want to mess with your stuff, I know how i get when someone trys to mess with my stuff) then gave me all the info i needed and said your gonna run NAT or somthing similar right, I said yup ( no @ home offically does not allow this) then he offered to help me setup NAT, but i told him it's cool im not helpless. This was all done in under 25 minutes, awesome.

I can have 3 static IP's. Sometimes i get 800Kb on the download and 300Kb on the up.

Not one outage in 8 months!

On a side note, Im not running NAT anymore, everything is now firewalled, routed and IAS servered.(Did not have a lot of moeny back then)

Yes I use Linux and Windows, true geeks don't flame each other over something so stupid!
