Well, first we must all be happy that web advertisement might do some good.
People all over the world use Lycos. No matter where someone is, there will probably be someone near by who uses the internet. By making it as easy to report to the FBI as clicking a button, they should get results. Since it's over the internet, the reporter may feel more anonymous sending in a report.
The downside would be false reports. There will probably be more false FBI criminal sitings then elvis sitings...
There are services that will store your data offsite. Some are expensive, some are not. I have been planning on setting up an FTP server at work and have my data go there.
As long as the data is on my work machine and home machine, something would have to go wrong at each machine for me to have a problem.
Also, the process will be automated so I don't have to remember to back-up.
One of the main reasons companies give out a severance package is to incite you to sign a form that says you will not sue the company.
I work for a pseudo-government organization with a history of firing incompetent people, them taking us into court, and us loosing. We have given people killer severance packages, instead of the kick to the street they deserve. But we do this so they won't take us to court. If they want the package, they have to sign the form.
If the online music industry had music files that where in a much higher quality format than what is supported on CD, I'd definitely take a look at what they have to offer.
The majority of MP3's are ripped from CD's so the quality is limited to the quality of the CD.
DVD Music and other new formats are slowly working their way into the market, but if these online pay music sites offered these formats with no large initial purchase of equipment, they would definitely turn a few heads.
There are some internet filters out there that use Fuzzy Logic out there instead of databases. They are able to determine what catagory a web page can go into without ever having seen the web page before.
This technology should also be able to be applied to spam.
Yeah, the information would say the user watched West Wing and skipped all the commercials. Man I love my replayTV.
For more dialog about replayTV go to the AVSforum. It's a great site with lots of discussion on replayTV, Tivo and Ultimate TV.
