...if you look at microsoft's EULA, the indemnification is entirely for microsoft's benefit, indemnifying microsoft from its own users, and not granting customers any indemnification from anything at all.
you don't have to generate specific malicious code in order to exploit md5.
merely creating pure trash would be sufficient, think of the case of BIOS or other firmware. create random garbage with the same md5 hash and voila, you've turned your victim's PC/laptop/celphone/pda/etc into a doorstop.
there are many other ways that md5 can be exploited, this is only one.
she can pass any law she likes, doesnt mean its legal.
for example, she could pass a law requiring everyone in the city to personally give her 1 dollar a day. no court would ever uphold such a law as its blatantly illegal.
let her pass her stupid law, then sue her into oblivion. get a lot of press coverage, publically embarass her until she resigns and hides under a rock for the rest of her life.
20gb, usb-storage class, not saddled with shitty DRM, plays ogg natively, decent battery life, and......doesn't look like an ugly pile of shit like that rio carbon!
i mean really, who the fuck keeps coming up with these retarded designs? every rio device is unusably deformed in some way or another. it looks like they always sorta start out with a decent design, then someone in marketing says "no, it's not fucked up enough" so they go around and bash all the design engineers heads with ball peen hammers until they're drooling idiots. then they come back with the ridiculous chiba design and suddenly marketing shouts "eureka!" and starts selling it immediately.
the iriver ihp is no work of art, but it's far less annoying than the chiba or carbon.
yep, this is exactly the same thing i've experienced. it's pretty wild stuff debating islam with them. one can only imagine all the congnitive dissonance they are forced to process all the time.
the most amusing one i've heard from them is the argument that the koran is a book of science, and that scientific discoveries daily are "proving" the koran correct.
also, even the most "secular" arabs i've met were still wildly antisemitic. which implies that the racism in arab societies is fundamental to arab culture and not necessarily to islam itself (though many do exploit aspects of islam to foster it)
most israelis i've met really could give two shits about being orthodox, zionism, etc. they were quite secular in their views.
otoh most arabs i've met seem quite reasonable individuals, until the discussion drifts to islam -- then you get the most incredible spiels from them on all sorts of wild christian and jew conspiracies, the supremacy of islam, etc. that comes off as right wing nutcases and white power supremacists.
is that verisign accused vixie of conspiring against them to supress sitefinder, when really all vixie did was put an end user configurable switch into bind to let end users decide if they wanted to return NXDOMAIN or not. he did this to avoid a fork of bind, since many people were threatening to fork bind and implement it if he didn't.
basically, verisign doesn't want end users to have a choice in the matter, they want sitefinder to be unilaterally forced upon all end users without their consent, and without regards to whether it breaks their apps or not (it broke several of ours!). anyone who disagrees with them is just a an anti-american, anti-commerce internet terrorist.
archos can claim anything they like, but they're wrong. the iriver was the first player with a color screen, not the archos. the iriver h300 series has been shipping for several months now.
foonet was a well known script kiddie haven and the admin was already a well known packet monkey -- he'd publically boasted many times about ddos'ing companies and individuals into oblivion. his ddos attacks on various irc networks was well known.
crocodile tears for the idiots stupid enough to buy hosting from these miscreants. you rented a room in a crack house, with meth labs next door.
I called several of them, and most of them shut it off when they verified it was originating from their servers.
All except one. I talked with their admin, they verified the ddos was originating from their hosts. I asked them to shut it down and they said "well you can send us a subpoena and we will shut it down". I pointed out that by the time it took to get a subpoena the attack would have been ongoing for several days/weeks. Their response? "well thats your problem not ours".
So we did eventually report it to law enforcement. They got subpoena'd. What happens?
The guy who originally told me to go FOAD ends up calling me and SCREAMING at me on the phone about why police officers came to his door to serve him a subpoena. Apparently he thought i'd just go away or something, and never follow through.
you do realize it was the original AC desperately trying to avoid getting his original post modded down.
he still failed miserably.
it's a link to yet another 'Gay Nigger Association of America' domain.
try criminal, it's more accurate
what they did was a criminal offense and you should report them to the feds. they can get fined under the FDPCA.
you really think 'the law' is a deterrent?

debt collection is a highly corrupt business and its very nature demands employees who have low ethical and moral standards.
um, the old fashioned way? getting off their fat lazy lard asses and mailing them?
Can anyone come up with a less contraversial method of formally notifying debtors of their responsibilities?
a letter perhaps?
you don't need caller id for any of those.
nice strawman
...2010 was pretty damn good, IMO.
what, /. editors believe counterfeiting is a constitutional right or something?
...in full remastered AC-3 surround audio
*shudder*
...where carrie fisher sings? that was some truly vile shit.

i don't expect this will ever change.
what's shocking and horrifying is not that it actually happened , but that it was far easier to generate them than anyone ever thought .

i'll just stick with my iriver ihp-120.

much cheaper and faster desktop replacement than a laptop.

heck, muslims don't even have to go the mosque if they don't want to
yeah, wonder what the heck all those muttawa in saudi arabia are for...

one time i did do this:
:-)
we were getting ddosed from some ISPs.
I called several of them, and most of them shut it off when they verified it was originating from their servers.
All except one. I talked with their admin, they verified the ddos was originating from their hosts.
