    It's about time someone realised I know what I'm talking about on encryption.

    If anyone wants to use digital signatures, I recommend Blowfish as the algorithm. http://counterpane.com
    Avoid all versions of DES and AES, there is a good reason NSA approved those algorithms as standards.

    I'd rather work with code that is secret and works than open code that sucks.
    The main problem is the GNU, why should people have to give away their property just because some freek asks them to be "free".
    Free software is a misnomer, it's more like socialist software than true freedom.

    Yes, the trolls had a good idea about a party system.
    I think it would be best run as an extension of friends and foes.
    Troll party, linux party, apple party, microsoft party, netscape party, liberty party, bsd party, etc.

    It would save a lot of people the nuisance of Jon Katz, repeated stories of minor linux events, trolls and the like.

    Some of my best friends are German, they are tall, blond, smoke and spend holidays in new zealand.

    None of them are like your american hill billies.

    I agree, it's awful to develop linux.

    GPGP is not that good, it's just as broken as PGP is and most german codes are broken within weeks of being used.

    That debate is a question of many people want to support the german software industry.

    Since when is wind power more sophisticated than nuclear power? It's just green bullshit.
    Digital signatures suck when they use this encryption, it can be broken on an old pc.

    Getting rid of nuclear power for wind power is not progress, it's green stupidity.
    Germany is once again leading europe in stupid decisions and a social democrat/green government is not pro big business at all.
    Germans only tend to use linux for hacking, cracking and to protest against microsoft.

    That they don't really get it.
    First they promote socialist dogma to business, then they waste money on linux and now they set up official documents for simple forged signatures.

    Haven't they figured out that the UK and USA have been reading all their secrets since 1942?
    And before you say I'm biased against linux, my friend in Darmstadt has complained about the level of stupid decisions in Berlin.

    Next thing you know, they'll be doing a Deutschland linux distro and sending every citizen a linux CD for free.

    see http://www.gchq.gov.uk and ask yourself if you trust these people when they can sign official documents of the german government.

    Get a hydrogen conveter and brew your own H2 from water, you could refill the bottle for about US$10 of electricity.
    Get a solar panel to power the converter and the cost of filling the bottle goes down to free.
    Use the free bottle long enough and you have free UPS no matter where you are.

    Can you get diesel for free? Is it piped into your house? Do you use diesel inside? can you drink diesel?

    You can't, so why not switch to water based power? it's cheap and safe.

    Hydrogen comes from the stars, the sun is just a big ball of H2 having a fusion reaction.
    H2 is only the most abundant element in the universe, it's not at risk of being used up like oil is.

    If we take water and process it by solar or wind power, we are effectively getting H2 for free (after you've paid for the equipment).
    How much does it cost to run a tap overnight and run a H2 converter? about US$8.
    Enough to fill a 2.5 kg tank in a fuel cell car, which will give you about 500 km of driving range.

    How much would it cost you to run a petrol car for 500 km? I think it would be a few times more than US$8... plus you would need far more petrol.
    I couldn't give a shit about biomass, but if you had a free lunch you'd make some biomass...

    The process of making water is clean and efficient, it has been tested on a large scale by the space shuttle program and this planet we live on.
    Water doen't pollute the air, unless you count rainclouds as pollution.

    George Bush used to have a business dealing with oil companies ages ago.

    However, the real problem is the vice president, he is a former oil company executive with a personal fortune based on the performance of the oil companies.

    If we switch to a hydrogen based economy as opposed to a carbohydrogen based economy, then those places would have to use the oil to supply the plastics industry.

    Remember the plot to Alien? they were on a ship that was taking oil back to earth to be used as plastics after earth's supply was exhausted by cars.

    The middle east has plenty of money to last them about 20 years each, maybe more if they didn't spend so much on the military.
    Fossil fuel is by it's nature an unstable part of the economy, there is a limit to the resources and it causes pollution.

    What's the "dream" about plain water based power? It's far more practical than oil.

    I'm thinking about buying a section in the middle of the forest in rural New Zealand. (I live in Wellington, the capital of NZ)

    I would like this as a UPS but I would need a Hydrogen converter for a fuel cell car.
    I would get the fuel cell car for economy and the non pollution it makes. After all, the point of being in the sticks is the clean air.

    I am sick and tired of repeated stories, stories that are rejected by biased editors, linux zealotry and anything by JonKatz.

    I think a new website which doesn't mindlessly promote linux as the One True Faith would be a good idea.
    I think all stories (except those by JonKatz) should be given fair coverage without censorship.
    How about openslash.org? that sounds more like a freedom of speech slashdot.

    I didn't join because I found the way they followed me around and tapping my phone to be obnoxious. (they trace the location of your cellphone and know where you use EFTPOS)

    less than 200 years ago, napoleon was the absolute monarch of the French Empire whcih began as a dictatorship.
    less than 200 years ago, Queen Victoria was the absolute monarch of the British Empire.
    less than 100 years ago, the Tsar of Russia was the absolute monarch of the Russian Empire.

    England has had a revolutionary civil war at the end of the middle ages where the monarchy was abolished for many years before being reimported and then a revolution in America which has only began to revert to an effective monarchy in the last 2 years.
    France had a revolution, then an empire, then a revolution again.
    Russia had an Empire, then a revolution which was replaced by democracy which is led by a a former KGB agent who started a war to become president.

    I would not discount the level of influence the secret service has on their own country just because they are supposed to spy on other countries.

    Mac OS X.1 introduced SMB filemounting.
    OS X is based on Darwin, a port of freeBSD to PowerPC (also runs on intel)
    Just get it from darwin and you're fine.

    Linux = 100 distros of questionable quality.
    *BSD = FreeBSD, DarwinBSD (OS X), NetBSD, OpenBSD & KaosBSD (in development)

    FreeBSD runs on intel only. Darwin is based on FreeBSD, runs on intel and PowerMac platforms.
    NetBSD runs on almost anything with a CPU, 30 platforms.
    OpenBSD runs on 10 platforms. KaosBSD is my project based on OpenBSD.

    Kaos is a new exokernel based system, it runs the core system on a ramdisk for added speed. It has a new GUI and special cryptography.

    the number of distros is irrelevant, the quality is the main factor in user choice.

    Could you tell the slashdot editors that?

    It is a good idea to use a standard library, it is a common way to program functions.

    I'm not really a troll unless you're tired of hearing about KAOS.
    I support the trolls in their humorous postings which are worth far more than their score indicates.
    I know that a code change to ignore thresholds above a value is possible, in fact I would like to ignore everything over 3.
    The moderators are typically in the GNU / Linux zealot minority of butt ugly geeks.

    I think the party system is a good idea, I would like to see a troll party, a taco party, a linux party, a BSD party, a beer party and an ORGY party

    A democracy has a written constitution to ensure that the laws do not violate the rights of the people.
    Democratic law must be constitutional to be a legitimate law that preserves the freedom of the people.
    The USA PATRIOT act is unconstitutional because it allows for people of suspected terrorist links (arab or muslim minority) to be detained in secret without a fair trial.
    Military tribunal courts are usually reserved for military personel, not ethnic minorities.

    America is in effect a monarchy, becuse the son of a former president rigged the vote count in his brother's state.
    The key difference between a dictatorship and a monarchy is the fact that a monarch inherits the right to rule from his family, almost always his parents.
