Have to agree. The gullies could just have easily been carved by wind-blown sand, and would look just the same as if water had carved them.

Actually, it's next to South-West England, not in it.

If you happen to touch the active pole with the penny/metal object/finger *first*, you make your body the only path to earth. This just might seem a bit of a belt at 110V (and it's still plenty lethal), but spare a thought for the rest of the world that has all their outlets at 240V - at that voltage there's a large burn hazard from just the flash, let alone the increased voltage.

I think that actually there are proportionally more fatalities from 110V mains because people don't feel the jolt so much, and it's amps that kill, not volts.

Strange though how it took 359 years for the Inquisition's edict against Galileo to be lifted - it was only in 1992 that Pope John Paul II issued an apology and admitted that Galileo had been right all along to say that the Earth goes round the Sun. Maybe they have "special" telescopes in the Vatican Observatory that show the universe in a different light...

  9. Huygens' carrier signal detected! on Huygens Probe Prepares for Saturn Moon Landing · · Score: 4, Interesting

According to ESA's website: The Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope (GBT) in West Virginia, USA, a part of the global network of radio telescopes involved in tracking the Huygens Titan probe, has detected the probe's carrier signal.

This means that the probe survived the entry (heat-shield) phase of the descent and the main parachute opened, but we still have to wait for the main part of the show...
