Comcast, as usual, is going the last mile to assure everyone that Big Brother is watching but you can be sure that other ISPs have and will be using the same "technology" to spy on their users. How else will TIA happen?

Except this isn't "snooping." Actually they are reading Blogs so they can improve their service. This is after numerous stories in the media on comcastmustdie.com and Mona "The Hammer" Shaw. In fact, businesses do this all the time. The only time I can recall it resulting in a lawsuit was with Lowe's suing someone over the site lowes-sucks.com
    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/09/21/lowes_threatens_legal_action/

It is still sad many businesses must resort to reading blogs rather than having more technical support personnel to answer the phones when someone needs it the most or to change their minds.

No matter how secure an Operating System is, there will always be someone who could be so ignorant enough to get malware. All it would take for any GNU/Linux install to get malware is for someone to be dumb enough to get access to the Root account and install software that has the malware linked to it. Just because someone doesn't use M$, Micro$haft, or Windoze doesn't mean they hate open source or Linux. One example you gave was Keith Russell. There is no Microsoft conspiracy against you. The reason you have been modded down is because you use "M$" and "Windoze" Microsoft and Windows, which is just as childish as using "Linsux" and "Open Sores" when describing "GNU/Linux" and "Open Source" There are many people on Slashdot who speak against Microsoft and still get modded up. How does an unregulated free market stay free? Wouldn't money accumulate in fewer and fewer hands? The more money you have, the more power you have to affect the value of things. The more power you have to make more money without doing anything of value, by screwing people economically The free market doesn't work that way. What you are referring to is corporate socialism, which according to the ninth and tenth amendments it is unconstitutional. With laissez-faire capitalism, those who don't do anything of value are cast aside. For example, take a look at GM, Ford, and Chrysler. All three are not as big what they used to be as a result of the free market. They really never wanted to compete so once competition started popping up, they became irrelevant. That is how the free market works.

You could spend a lot of money to screw over people, say, by buying up all the land around them. They can't go on your property, and neither can anyone else. They have to pay whatever you charge for anything, as no one else has a right to traverse your land to sell to them. Guess what, that is already happing today with the unconstitutional government. Libertarians are not for eliminating the government, we are for limiting the government through the constitution. You are not against the constitution are you?

Money is power. Coercion can be economic, not just at the point of a gun. Again, that sounds like the government. If money is power the government has a whole lot of power. As they say absolute power corrupts absolutely and the government is just about there.

Actually, greed isn't the problem; it is the action stemming from the greed that is the problem. Sometimes greed can lead to a business changing their policies when their customers are flocking over to the competition when there is a problem. One such example is Jack in the Box. When several of Jack-in-the-Box's customers had food poisoning from their products, the biggest punishment they received was from their customers. They had to struggle to win the trust of their customers back. Ford is another example. Ford has made many products that lacked in features and reliability. They even have gone so low with the whole Ford/Firestone ordeal. As a result, they are no longer a viable option to many people. They still are not seeing the whole picture. Why do you think they are losing ground to Toyota, Kia, Nissan, and Volkswagen?

As for Dell, it isn't the government they need to worry about, it is their customers. The customer service and product quality has been an issue for quite some time now. I even call them "Packard Dell" as they are no better than Packard Bell was in the 1990s.

My point was there really is no line to say what item or items are needed or deserved, so the government simply punishing someone for simply being greedy could very well introduce more problems. As for the Union Carbide incident, I agree the individuals involved should have been punished with the laws already on the books, not for being greedy but for what they did to save money. Another question is what can be done when a government does the same thing? A similar incident of eliminating the safety protocols led to the Chernobyl disaster.

BTW, just because I am stating greed is not a vice doesn't mean it is a virtue. IMO, greed is closer to being neutral as I have pointed out; both good and bad can come from greed.

Here's an idea: rather than try to make people think greed is good, how about not being greedy? I am not making it good or bad. I am simply asking where the line is.

If you think there is a standard, then when exactly does desire become excessive?

IF you really look at it, everyone has a different look as to what people need or deserve and when it becomes excessive.
