Get over it. The US uses more energy because we produce more products. You do realize that the US produces a large percentage of the worlds food? If these "low energy use" countries started producing masses of cars for the entire world, then their energy usage would go up.
Don't worry though, Obama should quickly destroy the entire US industrial base, leaving massive unemployment and starving masses huddling around garbage dumps, fighting for rats to eat. All that wasteful energy usage, like that used in producing medicine and food, will be a thing of the past. The energy expensive export of these horrible products will end, and the world will become harmonious and peaceful without these unecessary products.

3. How to you intend on using a power beam to adjust a satellites position, without blasting random sites on the earth? I doubt you can make manouver as necessary without pointing the beam in all directions.
4. You have your power at the equator. Now what? Load it on a boat it to Canada where it's needed? 2000 miles of wire with minimal losses?
5. If you're worried about global warming right now, how will you feel about massive amounts of energy pumped into the atmosphere every day? You cannot send a beam through the air without affecting it....
What's with this "buy" of the operating system? All you are getting for your money is a promise that Microsoft will permit you to run it on one specific machine, witt no guarentees that it will do anything useful. You own nothing, you get no promises of its worth. You only get a half-hearted promise that they might not send the BSA after you if you can prove that you actually bought it, but then again, they might do it any way. Make sure that you have a receipt with: the serial number of your copy of Windows, the serial number of the PC you are going to run it on, a DNA sample of the person who will be using it, signatures of three Microsoft lawyers, and the signatures of seven arch-bishops. Even then, they'll probably print it on that termal paper that fades within days.
If I believe the news media, which I and most slashdot readers do, then one can of tuna contains about a pound of mercury. One gram of mercury is enough to wipe out an entire city. And one atom of plutonium would devistate the entire earth.
So, keeping an infinite amount of CO2 cold (as it builds up over time, at an additional ton every day per plant) is obviously not a problem. The global-warming fairies will take care of it.
Let's require that whatever bill they propose, that all of the US government, especially congress & house, have to operate under that bill for one year before it can be forced on the rest of us. Whatever plan they currently have is gone. They are not allowed to work outside of their proposed system. They have to use only what their bill contains, and the funding has to come as a deduction (tax) out of their salaries. The money used to provide their health care services must come from whatever they paid in, and if (when) it runs out, nobody gets any more services until more funding is available. Also, any government employee who goes outside the system must declare it on some specified national forum, so we can know about its deficiencies before it takes effect on the rest of us.
This will show us if it is a viable plan, and that it is has enough money coming in so that extra funding is not hidden in additional taxes. Let's see how they like their own plan before we're forced into another stupid plan.

As part of the agreement for purchasing the voting machines, add a clause that subtracts $1.00 for each vote miscalculated. This should make the voting machine creators be much more careful about the software they supply.
