Here's my Security Plan: Every law abiding person should boycott commercial airlines for one year. This means only terrorists will fly, so just arrest them all!!
Even if this doesn't catch any terrorists, when the airlines get tired of 5 people being considered a "full load" on a 737, maybe they will talk some sense into the stupid TSA and DHS, if that is possible. Certainly, reason and humility have failed to do anything to improve the situation.
It is not often in life that someone tells you important things, and when they do, you should listen. What Randy Pausch has to say in this 'last lecture' is important. He is, in fact, teaching us to the very end.
I don't know what I'm trying to say here except that I hope the flight industry dies. Once rapid travel dies, timely face to face communications dies. All communication is then forced into conduits that are easily monitored, filtered, screened and, generally, snooped upon. This may be exactly what a fascist government would find "convenient".
issues such as incompatibility and training Perhaps its useful to consider the claim that training is difficult to obtain. We geeks are used to (and frequently happy to) explore and learn things on our own. But average office workers? Maybe not. So perhaps "embracing and extending" Microsoft's own certification franchise, the OO.o community should consider creating a OO.o Certified Specialist certification program. This would include online training material, a proficiency exam, and the issuance of certificates to people qualified to train office workers in OO.o's use. Perhaps those who have been certified could also be listed in a training directory linked to by OO.o's web site. This could dispense with claims that "training is not available", if such claims hold any water in the first place.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned pharmaceuticals fraud in the context of this thread. A few years ago drug stores in Florida bought and distributed what they thought were real chemotherapy drugs. Here's a link to the story:
Actually, what we really need are more H1-B doctors and lawyers, to drive their rates down from the stratosphere to something more reasonable like in other countries. While we're at it, maybe a few H1-B CEOs as well.
After being depressed by outsourcing and all the H1-B fraud the past couple of years, I decided it would be great if we turned US politics over to H1-B's or outsourced it altogether. Then maybe everybody could afford to buy a U.S. Congressman or Senator, like the super rich already do! Imagine buying political access for $1000 instead of $50000?!!! Cool! Bring it on!
It may be wrong for ISPs to block an entire country, but I do exactly that in my own personal filters. I don't personally know anyone in Spain (or.cz,.cl,.de,.fr,.it,.no,.ro, etc.) and don't wish to receive unsolicited email from anyone there. Works for me.

This article was a lousy troll. Shlain is a stooge. See above. Now go away and think of something useful to post instead of crap like this article.
