How about laws that force internet providers to not be owned by, or produce content at all. Better yet, make it so that the company that owns the infrastructure doesn't even provide internet access, but instead sell their access to homes to other companies.

The reason why police can do a simple search of a detained person, and look inside containers, is to ensure the safety of the officer. It is a light search to ensure that the detained person is not armed. Until I can install a weapon on my cell phone, looking inside it as if it were a 'container', is obviously abuse.
I just use Daylight Saving Time all the time. I'm fine with everyone else being wrong, as long as it gets dark at 5:30 on the shortest day of the year instead of 4:30. Dark at 8am? So what, 8am sucks anyway. Worried about school kids? Set their schedule so they have an 8 hour day that always has daylight in whatever region you are in.

Upholding the ability for the press to protect their sources has a compelling state interest, in that empowering them to investigate criminal activity is in the public interest. Once you start compelling the press to divulge their sources, people stop talking to them.
