  9. Re:not exactly "solar" on Patients get Solar Implants in Eyes · · Score: 1

solar (slr) ADJECTIVE: 1. Of, relating to, or proceeding from the sun: solar rays; solar physics. 2. Using or operated by energy derived from the sun: a solar heating system. 3. Determined or measured in reference to the sun: the solar year.

The only time these ocular implants will be using energy derived from Sol (our star/sun) is when the bearers are looking directly at the sun. Otherwise, according to quantum physics, everything that the person 'sees' is, in actuality, absorbing a photon from whichever light source is present (solar or artificial), and re-emitting a photon of reduced power and a wavelength dependent on the properties of that material which is doing the 'reflecting'.

Therefore, while it is possible that these implants will from time to time use solar energy, they are in no way whatsoever strictly 'solar'.

I have work to do, not a bunch of pointless tinkering. I am paid to produce results, not tinker with the computer.

While attempting to sound hoity-toity, you actually told us all that you tinker with things for no point.

You complained about not being able to do this. On slashdot, that will prompt reccomendations for resolution. You then said that fixing it would be "pointless tinkering," where in actuality the point was clearly to accomplish what you were trying to accomplish in the first place. Therefore , you personally called your own goal a fool's errand.

    Nice.

The fact of the matter is that sometimes, on any platform, you will need to "tinker." This becomes more likely when you are trying to execute something that is not native to your platform of choice. Welcome to Slashdot. Enjoy your stay.

Please don't use the letter l in place of the number 1. It REALLY screws with my head.

Regarding the rest of your question, the simple (to say) answer is that time is fluid, and does not flow at the same rate in all places relative to all observers, especially over cosmic-scale distances. Yours is a good question, and if you really want to understand the current beliefs on the mechanics of time under general relativity, you should check out About Time by Paul Davies for a book written for the lay person by one of the sharpest minds of the current era..
