I didn't read such a thing. The court merely declined to dissolve the cult altogether (what the prosecution requested), which would have been legally difficult considering that a scumbag lawmaker from scumbag Sarkozy's scumbag party passed an amendment that removed the penalty of dissolution for entities convicted of fraud a few months ago.
XUL is rendered in Firefox the same way HTML is. It's just a slightly different, parallel path to the rendering engine. As for Opera being faster, well, that's very very debatable.
Same kind of stupidity here, esp. the part about the intellectual elite. Fucking douchebags hate the internet, and the internet hates them in turn.
I would point out that the US situation is not significantly different wrt ebooks. When you factor out the difference in book prices, US ebooks (and audiobooks) are still way overpriced, close to the hardcover price.
Well in fact it's the electronic delivery that's fucked up. I love audiobooks, so that I can "read" while on bicycle, and I wanted to buy Bob Woodward's "the War Within." It's $24 in hardcover, and $20 through Audible.com. But I can't buy through audible, because the sons of bitches insist on fucktarded DRM, and don't support Linux anyway. So instead I bought it in CD format from a third party, for $10 shipping included. It's a complete waste, since I'm just going to waste time ripping it.
Ebooks should be much cheaper than physical ones. Until they stop treating their customers like shit, they deserve all the piracy they get. Fucking fucktards.
Interesting; that's exactly what I'm working on. We have a huge infrastructure with hosting in 2 datacenters in each of 3 countries, replicating across a high speed MAN.
I also manage servers in another DC; it costs less than $2000/month for a full height rack, including traffic. I'm surprised you can't afford that much, or are prices much higher in your location?
First you need a well connected end point. Here for example you can buy very cheap (30€/month) unlimited bandwidth colocated servers. You just start an OpenVPN connection between that host and your Linux router on the site through each of your DSL lines. Using iptables random match, you mark each packet with one of two values. Then you use policy based routing to direct packets to one connection or the other based on the mark. Then you just configure nat on the colocated host and add the proper default route on the local router. Voila.
Given the high cost of helium, why not use hydrogen? Helium is safer, of course, but it's not an issue in-flight when there's no human dangling from the balloon. There is a risk at the time of filling, but even then, I don't see how it's more dangerous than handling a bottle of propane for your kitchen. Especially outside. Leaking H2 will go straight up and will not build up to pose much of a threat.
there are about 30 people who regularly have to carry a laptop because they are on call or because they have to work with someone half a dozen timezones away and would rather not have to sleep at the office every time a conf call is needed.
Among other things he designs (usually very nice) maps for Nexuiz. On European servers his maps have a disclaimer added at the beginning to the effect that he is a fascist douchebag and that his maps may contain offensive material.
I've never witnessed such material in game, but it picked my curiosity and I looked him up; that guy is GONE. Very, very far gone.
In other news I know that really crazy woman, and therefore French women are psychos.
Anyone and his dog can post anything, anywhere, saying whatever, no matter how offensive.
So you're easily offended? By proxy?
Well I find your generalizations and judgementalism offensive, way more offensive than any retarded sexist joke NOBODY GIVES A FUCK ABOUT
And btw no real example of such outrageously sexist behavior is given, especially not in any kind of statistical significance. That porn-themed presentation? I chuckled at the first few slides, then found it embarassing. But sexist? Give me a fucking break! This is so ridiculous it makes me want to cockpunch someone.
F/OSS is the meritocracy par excellence. No diploma is required, your nationality does not matter, your actual name doesn't have to show up, looks do not matter -- hell you don't even have to show your face! --, even mental health does not matter either considering the number of functional autists in computing.
You just have to show your code. A minimal level of English helps but is by no means required.
That's it. There's no peer pressure unless you yourself make it an issue.
Contrast this with what minorities still have to face in the work place in many countries. I'm talking real discrimination, real racism. I've seen it here against Arabs, where very competent people get passed on for jobs where Europeans with the exact same qualifications are given the priority. Women? There isn't any* in computing, and none is being passed for a job. They don't have it hard; they're not even trying! It's a fact!
Which brings me to my point; people who want to find internal (to the F/OSS and tech at large community) causes for the poor number of women will always have to make shit up. They will come up with some inane+insane notion that women are intimidated by the attitude of computer people or some shit. Right. When was the last time you heard of a hazing in IT? Yet that's the kind of shit you used to find in newly feminized professions such as police.
Usually they end up asking that women be treated specially to make it easier for them... which is utterly and ironically sexist in itself.
-- (*) obviously there are exceptions but the striking thing is how few those exceptions are. I'd wager there are more women truck drivers or other typically male professions than women programmers.
As long as you're not taking energy out of it, no, it's not. Well, actually, energy is perpetual; it's power that's not. Perpetual motion exists in a vacuum. It just doesn't on earth with all that friction that requires perpetual power to counteract. You can also maintain a perpetual current in a supraconductor, as long as you're not messing with the magnetic field it generates. But just like a hard vacuum, it's not a natural state down here.
And it's par for the course. Sarkozy's party ran on a platform of order, xenophobia and homophobia. They're the people who want to chemically castrate sex offenders, throw refugees off the boat and deny family rights to same sex couples.
But that's only when you're talking about the plebs, when it's a person of power, of course they can like young boys and young girls all they want, up to and including rape and sex tourism. It's their creative spirit! Not the dirty smelly affairs of the poor.
And so am I. Pointing out that the far right is criticizing him is a rhetorical ploy. Mitterrand is a douchebag, he needs to go. If he could just take down Sarkozy with him that'd be nice, too.
The evidence is irrefutable; Mitterrand wrote that in a book, and it's not taken out of context. The term used is even more specifically damning; he used "gosses", which is only used to mean young kids, as opposed to "garcon" which can also be taken to mean "young man."
Who created god? Is it turtles all the way?

It was Wu.
He is.
Who was the president of China.
Can't you just host the servers somewhere appropriate?
He is smaller than H2, almost half as small.
Heh yeah I'm an idiot; I was thinking of that when I wrote it and then forgot my own joke.

Am I missing something?
I'm not entirely sure what's funny here ..?
there are about 30 people who regularly have to carry a laptop because they are on call or because they have to work with someone half a dozen timezones away and would rather not have to sleep at the office every time a conf call is needed.
One week a month, I get paid extra for being at most 15 min away from ssh 24/7. So I have to carry a laptop and a 3G usb key at all times.
Of course I don't go to the movies anymore, the experience sucks so much with all the stupid jerks talking and/or forgetting to turn off their phone.
And this does not even compare to the mildest of hazings.
I see no evidence anywhere that there are more women in IT in Germany than in neighbouring countries.
As I said there are exceptions. Very rare ones.
And you might just find more women in developing countries, because I believe that given a number of career choice, women don't choose IT.
Do you know who he is?

Generalizations ... always wrong.

At least as much as Bliar.
