Erecting towers isn't all that hard, hell I've put up 40 foot towers by myself. and I've put up 100 foot towers with 12 element,40 foot boom antennas attached to them with less than 5 people. We never had any cranes or 14 thousand pounds of concrete either. A couple pizzas is all we wanted. I even painted the very same 100 foot tower 10 years later with nothing more than a tower belt and a two by four to slide in between the rungs to hold the paint can.
But I will admit, you do need a quality tower if you are going over 100 feet. a wide base is very important. Alot of the older commercial towers were the same size from top to bottom, especially the ones over 500 feet tall. and they relied on guy wires for most of their support. Imagine climbing up a 500 foot tower? I don't think I would want to go that high, 100 foot is scary enough.

My fist Atari was awsome, I thought it was the bomb when it first came out. But back in 1985 there was a new kid on the block, The Nintendo Entertainment system. Which I believe retailed for around $199.99 when they first hit the shelves. The first systems came with R.O.B. the robot, The lightgun and two games. (Super Mario brothers/duckhunt and Gyromite.) Then a couple years later they eliminated the robot and sold the system with a lightgun and the Super Mario brothers and Duckhunt game pack. Needless to say, by then everyone and their brother had one. (This was around 1987.) People were hooked, god help you if wanted to buy your kid one for Christmas. Around 1988 games were being released left and right, which were typically being sold for around $39.99 for a new release game. Zelda, Metroid, Mike Tysons Punchout, Contra, Double Dragon and Super Mario Bros. 2 were just a few of the Big time titles of between 87 and 89, then you had even bigger hits like Ninja Gaiden and Super Mario Bros. 3...which were hard to find when they first hit the stores. I remember one kid offering me 100 bucks for my Super Mario Bros. 3 cartridge. If you were part of that era, I'm sure you remember how crazy it was, it came to a point where kids started writing their names on the games to avoid having their game stolen or lost. I lost track of how many times my mom would have to call other kids parents to find games I had let them borrow, most of the time the kids would trade those games off to some other kid and you would have to track them down...or borrow one from the same kid and never return it. (had to break even somehow)
I will admit something though, and this is very low of me, but I was so hooked on NES at the time, I started renting games and swapped out the board inside with my games. I had made a special tool to do this, after many "swaps" I finally got caught and had to pay for the game. $39.99 (MegaMan 2)
As I went into the 1990's, I started to get more involved in newer system, my first 16 bit system was a turbo-grafx 16 (I couldn't afford a Genesis) but eventually I made it there and bought one. Next up was the Super-Nes, I was the first kid in my county to buy one, in fact I got it before the release date (thanks to a toys r' us worker) Mode 7 and Scaling was awsome.:>
Oh well, each system has their own story, which I could ramble on for hours and hours. But I will say one more thing, The NES was the best and most fun I ever had. Mainly because I had friends, who enjoyed the same thing....NES

I had several nintendos over the years and never experienced any problems with cartridge loader springs, but I sure did have alot of problems with the consoles cartridge pins becoming corroded, which in turn caused all of us NES fans to blow or fog up the cartridges with our breath. Not one of you know anything about radio waves, and yes my bitches, a wi-fi signal is a radio wave. It's been very well known that higher frequencies are more dense and can penetrate tissue faster.(specifically the eyes) Have you ever listened to the AM broadcast band? Like 800KHz ? those radio stations run about 50,000 watts (killowatts) of rf power, yet the damage caused by these radio waves is very minimal, if any.(the only real damage would be direct contact high voltage shock) However, if you ran 50,000 watts (killowatts) on 2.4 GHz it would cause damage to anyone close to the antenna. This is why you don't see too many high powered devices on these frequencies.
I tried to explain to everyone the difference in frequencies, that is why I used the lightbulb and laser example. Low frequency radio waves are not as dense as high frequency radio waves. (if it goes through the air, it's a radio wave) As an extra class amateur radio operator, these are issues we need to learn before passing our tests. Some of you idiots need to quit looking in your college text books and start reading some of the FCC regulations and guidelines. I was talking on 2.4GHz transmitters before wi-fi network connections were common by the general public. My 30+ years of amateur radio (the original geeks) has been exciting and educational.
If you would like to learn more about radio waves, I suggest looking up some of these FCC guidelines and rules.
1. The whole-body specific absorption rate (SAR) T0B RF safety rules and guidelines.
2. FCC Part 1 and Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) Bulletin 65
T0A01 @T0A01 (B) Why is it a good idea to adhere to the FCC's Rules for using the minimum power needed when you are transmitting with your hand-held radio? A. Large fines are always imposed on operators violating this rule B. To reduce the level of RF radiation exposure to the operator's head C. To reduce calcification of the NiCd battery pack D. To eliminate self oscillation in the receiver RF amplifier
T0A02 @T0A02 (D) Over what frequency range are the FCC Regulations most stringent for RF radiation exposure? A. Frequencies below 300 kHz B. Frequencies between 300 kHz and 3 MHz C. Frequencies between 3 MHz and 30 MHz D. Frequencies between 30 MHz and 300 MHz
T0A03 @T0A03 (C) What is one biological effect to the eye that can result from RF exposure? A. The strong magnetic fields can cause blurred vision B. The strong magnetic fields can cause polarization lens C. It can cause heating, which can result in the formation of cataracts D. It can cause heating, which can result in astigmatism
T0A04 @T0A05 (C) In the far field, as the distance from the source increases, how does power density vary? A. The power density is proportional to the square of the distance B. The power density is proportional to the square root of the distance C. The power density is proportional to the inverse square of the distance D. The power density is proportional to the inverse cube of the distance
T0A05 @T0A06 (D) In the near field, how does the field strength vary with distance from the source? A. It always increases with the cube of the distance B. It always decreases with the cube of the distance C. It varies as a sine wave with distance D. It depends on the type of antenna being used
T0A06 @T0A09 (A) Why should you never look into the open end of a microwave feed horn antenna while the transmitter is operating? A. You may be exposing your eyes to more than the maximum permissible exposure of RF radiation B. You may be exposing your eyes to more than the maximum permissible exposure level of infrared radiation C. You may be exposing your eyes to more than the maximum permissible exposure level of ultraviolet radiation D. All of
Higher frequencies are more dense, which in turn make them more dangerous.
Here is an example:
Lower frequencies, like 100KHz would be comparable light bulb, if you turn it on in a room, it lights up the entire room, even corners and underneath objects. But the light emitted from the bulb isn't strong enough to burn your skin or give your body warmth.
Higher frequencies, like 2.4 GHz are comparable to lasers, if you turned on a laser in a room, you would see a small stream of light. While this laser doesn't light up the room, if you touched the stream of light it would cause some type of damage to your skin or other form of material. But we have to remember that the laser can only do damage if you are in line of site with it. Higher frequencies are very line-of-site, the higher the more this becomes true. So, while these higher frequencies can do more damage, the chances of being in the line-of-site are slim. You also have the level of rf power radiation to take into consideration as well. Lower power levels usually don't have much affect on skin tissue, even at high frequencies.
This is the most stupid ban I've seen in a long time.
Yes, the high frequencies that wireless networks use can be dangerous to cells, since higher frequencies and radio waves are more dense. but basically the whole spectrum can cause damage as well. As we speak now, there are radio waves passing through our bodies. These come from television, amateur radio, broadcast radio, public service radio, cell phones and other wireless services.
Wireless networks are generally low power and you would have to be sitting directly near your antenna before you would be affected. A cell phone will probably fry your brain faster, since it's right next to your head.
An amateur radio operator told you that!

I remember back in the early 90's when you could order something and pay for it c.o.d. (cash) and not have to wait all day long to get your item delivered, they would almost always get to your house at the same time, hell I even made friends with one of the UPS drivers because he was always coming to my house often. Those days are gone because of the internet, everyone and their uncle orders stuff on the internet these days, the amount of items being shipped has probably grown about 1000x times since then. That's why....too many people now.... bad for us, good for the delivery companies. Newegg still ships to me just as fast as they always have, but I don't care for UPS that much, too many damaged shipment. In fact, last week I ordered a new cable modem. I knew it was coming that day, I waited for it. I heard the UPS driver pull up to the house, I went to the door and stood there and waited for him to knock.....well, he didn't knock and he just left the box sitting on my porch. I live on a busy street, anyone could come by and rip the package off...it kinda ticks me off that I pay good money to have something shipped and they can't even knock or leave it in the door. Now fedex on the other hand is what I call a real delivery service. They knock on your door, they make you sign for the package and if you aren't there they come back the next day. They even say "have a nice day!" UPS never does that, and trust me, I've dealt with UPS many thousands of time, at my residence and at work. It's amazing how they have went downhill.
Getting back to UPS and Newegg, if you want the cheaper shipping at newegg, you gotta go UPS, otherwise Fedex costs a little more.
Don't like Newegg? Try Mwave.com out, they've been in business alot longer than Newegg and they use fedex. Prices are about the same and sometimes cheaper than Newegg.
For those who remember Newegg when they first started, Newegg copied everything Mwave did at the time, even Newegg's website looked almost exactly like Mwave's, Then slowly, Newegg become the monster it has grown to today, leaving Mwave a little behind. Not by much though.
And by the way, Mwave has been around since the middle 90's that I know of. In fact, I made my very first internet purchase with them. Always top notch service from. (both of them)
There is another monster growing too, ZipZoomFly. I've never ordered from them, but I heard they are pretty awsome. Look Out!
1 kw powersupplies have been around for a long time, just not for joe schmoes home computer. People that don't know anything about electronics are bound to have humongous hardons over this news.
Show me a 200 ampere power supply that will fit into an ATX case and I will truly be impressed.
Guild Wars is a wonderful game, yes it's still enjoyable playing solo. I also feel the need to mention that it doesn't cost a monthly fee to play. So basically, it's like World of Warcraft for the poor. Great game indeed.
Nothing will ever take my time like Diablo 2 has been doing for the last 5 years though....nothing!
Arguing which database or which operating system is best would be a waste of time. In fact, we could hold debates about these two things for years.
People use what works for them, we live in a world of many choices, in this case Databases. There is a large selection of Free Databases available today. Like I said, people use what works for them. MySQL is like Apache, most everyone uses it, NOT everyone. You can't sit there and tell me this isn't true, because it is. No, MySQL may or may not be the best DB, same goes for Linux and Apache, but the numbers show proof. There was a post below this one about Microsoft Windows. I'll give you an explanation of Windows.
Windows is easy to use, it's user friendly and supports what most people want. Thats why windows has such a great adoption by people all around the world. I prefer to use windows as my desktop platform. I use it to play games, read e-mail and surf the internet, even post on slashdot.org Is it the best Operating system in the world? Hmm to some it is, to some it's not, but I choose to use windows for my desktop, I like it. Now when it comes to servers, I use Linux exclusively, MySQl too! Is Linux the best server operating system? Once again, to some it is, to some it's not.
We all have choices in this world, which way are you going? Do you prefer coke or pepsi? The proof is in the pudding.
Then why does most everyone use it then? Why do most webhosting companies use it? Why do most webhosting companies use linux?
Do a search for webhosting, try to find the best and most reliable host on the internet. You will see that they offer Linux and MySQL as their flagship platform.
I won't comment on data integrity, it's up to the database programmer to decide on which features of MySQL he will be using to incorporate into his application. As they say, there are workarounds for almost everthing. If MySQL was so bad or so lacking, then nobody would use it.
Suprnova may have been popular at the time, but like all websites, they come and go. There is always someone else to take their place. Remember isonews.com when it was taken down by the FBI years ago? Hey guess what? Their back up and running with a new website theisonews.com
Now we have sites like thepiratebay.org which is probably one of the best torrent sites on the internet. Heck, they even tout the lawyers and post the threating legal letters on their website for everyone to read http://thepiratebay.org/legal.php Quite hilarious if you ask me. Of course you have other torrent sites as well, like torrentspy.com which is another popular site.
First off, how fucking stupid can someone be to even upload or download pirated movies from Edonkey or any other gay ass file sharing service. Thats like saying "Hey, I'm here downloading your shit, come get me!"
Secondly, coach carter was on ftp servers, news groups and irc servers way before Anything was on Edonkey. Only noobs use file sharing to get movies and others things of value.
Lastly, it figures they go after easy prey, instead of going after the real thief who pirated their movie in the first place, they go after some lard ass noob who probably still lives at his parents house and wacks off to porn. They probably just picked someone to pin this on, anyone who they could trap and lure. As I said, Easy Prey. Nice scare tactic if you ask me, although I'm personally NOT scared.
First, I don't know too many people on welfare that have a credit line. That is one of the requirements to obtaining Directv service (having credit) It didn't used to be that way, but now is. Now Dishnetwork on the other hand requires no credit checks and is actually cheaper than Directv's service ($26 for dishnetwork programming, $41 per month for directv) By the way, back in 1996 I purchased my first dss system and of course it was Directv. In 1999 I switched to Dishnetwork for 4 years and just recently switched back. Getting back to the part about credit, that is one of the reasons that I kinda hate Directv, They have become so strict. I know they are trying to combat piracy (god I miss the HU card days) but I do understand their motive.
Here comes the second part In the last two weeks or so, I have recieved 3 calls per week from Directv trying to sell me something. In fact here is an e-mail that I recieved from them on the 11th (I knew nothing about this lawsuit until today)

This dead person probably didn't even know she was committing a crime, alot of people hear by "word of mouth" that you can download music on the internet by using various free programs like winmx, kazaa, limewire and others programs. Of course when you download music, it goes into a folder and those file sharing programs allow others to share the music you've downloaded by default.
So, most people don't even know that they are doing something wrong.
I think the makers of these programs need to put a large visible (not hidden in a ula) warning/disclaimer into the setup of the programs Informing the individual that if you continue setup and use the program you may be illegally downloading and sharing files, from there they can choose wether or not to continue the installtion process.

Wattage is futile, Amperage is impressive!
Well....if you were cool you could install NetBSD on your Dreamcast and SSH into your Xbox, then from there you could SSH to your....oh nevermind.....
Guild Wars is a wonderful game, yes it's still enjoyable playing solo. I also feel the need to mention that it doesn't cost a monthly fee to play. So basically, it's like World of Warcraft for the poor. Great game indeed.
....nothing!
Nothing will ever take my time like Diablo 2 has been doing for the last 5 years though
"MySQL is a joke?"
Then why does everyone use it?
"This is still a hobbiest toy"
Then why does most everyone use it then?
Why do most webhosting companies use it?
Why do most webhosting companies use linux?
Do a search for webhosting, try to find the best and most reliable host on the internet. You will see that they offer Linux and MySQL as their flagship platform.
I won't comment on data integrity, it's up to the database programmer to decide on which features of MySQL he will be using to incorporate into his application. As they say, there are workarounds for almost everthing. If MySQL was so bad or so lacking, then nobody would use it.
Right?
Suprnova may have been popular at the time, but like all websites, they come and go. There is always someone else to take their place. Remember isonews.com when it was taken down by the FBI years ago? Hey guess what? Their back up and running with a new website theisonews.com
Now we have sites like thepiratebay.org which is probably one of the best torrent sites on the internet. Heck, they even tout the lawyers and post the threating legal letters on their website for everyone to read http://thepiratebay.org/legal.php
Quite hilarious if you ask me.
Of course you have other torrent sites as well, like torrentspy.com which is another popular site.
sites come and go, they come and go....
This is a two part reply
First, I don't know too many people on welfare that have a credit line. That is one of the requirements to obtaining Directv service (having credit) It didn't used to be that way, but now is. Now Dishnetwork on the other hand requires no credit checks and is actually cheaper than Directv's service ($26 for dishnetwork programming, $41 per month for directv)
By the way, back in 1996 I purchased my first dss system and of course it was Directv. In 1999 I switched to Dishnetwork for 4 years and just recently switched back. Getting back to the part about credit, that is one of the reasons that I kinda hate Directv, They have become so strict. I know they are trying to combat piracy (god I miss the HU card days) but I do understand their motive.
Here comes the second part
In the last two weeks or so, I have recieved 3 calls per week from Directv trying to sell me something. In fact here is an e-mail that I recieved from them on the 11th (I knew nothing about this lawsuit until today)

Hopefully Sober gets drunk on New Years Eve and doesn't become Sober Until after the 5th. Even better yet, maybe Sober will get alcohol poisoning and die.
Who let the trolls out? who? who? who? who? who? who?
