  1. Re:ATI ahead? What? on Radeon 9700 Pro: ATI Ahead · · Score: 1

Well, FYI... FreeBSD can start Linux binaries very well. Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament 2k3 (demo) etc. work all fine here.

No, I mean the drivers which boost the fps rate of 3D-applications by factor 20(!).

I heard already of people who have same problems as You have. Please look at some mailing lists and forums. I am sure, You will find a solution.

  4. Damages are already done... why bother? on Unintended Aural Consequences of MP3 Compression · · Score: 1

When listening to "compressed music" changes our brain in some way? I don't want to know how our brain has changed after introducing music at all. Why do some people like punk music (2 or 3-chords) while other people listen to classic music? That's Your personal taste.

And if You like a sort of music in a way, Your brain will change to extend Your taste according to the music type You listen to usually. Because what You _know best_, You will like. Why are all these old songs being covered all the time? Because it's the cheap reaction of our brain!

There is no big deal about the brain when it is changing. It's a complex thing and when it changes it develops. This is why we live, because our brain is so complex. Every single impression will have consequences on Your brain, so stop crying about it!

The whole theory in this article is a bunch of crap, because if Your brain would not change, it would mean that Your are DEAD!

And since when have changes on Your brain implied consequences on the development process of Your children? Does it mean mentally sick people will get mentally sick children? Grow up people. When the brain develops, it does not mean the same as evolution.

  5. 50 years are not enough! on Would a Boycott of the MPAA/RIAA Help Matters? · · Score: 1

Yea... I give up! :D 50 years is really much.

I didn't mean to sound "cool". It's just that if they don't produce decent songs, I will not buy them. And so it came that my last album is really old.

But I have also discovered other music sources which don't have anything to do with these American institutions. I have radio and TV. They play enough music there. And for my special taste I have some music from Asia: Japan and Indonesia. This is also good music.

Imagine if the /. community proclaimed a boycott and refused to buy CDs for a month.

    One month?

FYI: the latest CD in my shelf here is, let's take a look, ... "Nirvana - Nevermind".

  7. 3D games for Linux are all running on FreeBSD on nVidia Unified Drivers Including Linux/FreeBSD · · Score: 1

I tried it using the nVidia drivers. It's really cool. The FreeBSD team is doing a good job with their Linux emulation. This is how emulation should work!

The nVidia drivers allow accelerated graphics support for FreeBSD. Now I can play UT, Q3 or other with reasonable framerates.

It was a good decision when I bought a Ti4200 few months ago.

  8. What do they want? on Tim O'Reilly Says Piracy is Progressive Taxation · · Score: 1

First the music/movie industry is using the internet freely to spread their products and make everything they have pop-ular and then they are complaining about bad people who make a few copies.

If You are dealing with internet, You should expect internet-like feedback. That's a simple principle. Everything on internet is FREE: websites, commercials, TV, music, software and movies. Why is that so hard to accept?

Internet is helping the industry more than it hurts it. I think it's a understandable thing that You have to pay these kinds of "taxes" for being more successful with Your products.

  9. Unfortunatelly, it's not a lie on Psst! Eight Bits Gets You "The Two Towers" In China · · Score: 1

I don't know how the pirated movies are distributed and where the origins are, but I can assure You that that story is true. In South-Eastern asia, Russia and Eastern Europe, there are many people who copy movies (mostly bad quality). But the copies appear before their US-release for sure and they are even already translated/dubbed (even when the translations are mostly bad quality).

    But for Your information:
It has been like this for more than 20 years. So... where are the news about it?

This is what most users think while browsing the web. The average time before a user loses the interest in the content is about 7 seconds. There are some usability studies about this topic.

They will never succeed with such dirty tricks. And btw, my pop-up blocker stays enabled!
