When I lived down in Eugene, Oregon I always heard about Dynamix laying off people and how Sierra was such a weird company to work for. There is no way I would work for that company. Stability was the last thing Sierra has ever been able to offer.
I am not surprised that they went out of business. Covad just recently went our of business as well. The larger internet companies are creating a monopoly. Entry to this market is almost impossible.
It is people like this person that will ruin technology for everyone. People will get so paranoid that they will not want to buy anything related to technology. Who wants to store personal information on something that can be cracked. Get a life people and stop hacking others. You will ruin the whole industry for everyone.
I am not suprised that company's are doing this. Give people power and they will abuse it. Take away their power and people whine. If you want to host a server, but the hosting or approprate bandwidth.
Why was this article published? The author goes on to state how the company spent money unwisely on chairs and then complains about the chairs? I would rather read some quality news like www.Designtechnica.com !!
Marketers and advertising will ruin the internet just like it ruined TV. Television ratings are at an all time low and less people are watching TV. There are more commercials on now than there are actual programs.
I bought my 3COM audrey on Ebay for $150 shipped, brand new in a box. These retail for over $500 normally, but they were discountinued do to lack of demand. They areally are neat little units.
It took hardware manufacturers years until they jumped on the MP3 bandwagon. A new standard will only site idly by a few years until it is even considered.
Of course this will never take off. Next thing you know people will start stealing each others jackets. The airports would hate this, and it would be worse than the abusive cell phone users. There is no advantage.
This is really a cool idea. The funny thing is that I thought Wonderswan was only sold in Japan? I would love to read the sotry if it was translated in english!
This is a very good start. As with every great company, you start little and work your way up. Marketing and word of mouth are what will bring people to your company. Be Os should pay head to this advice.
Intel's biggest problem is that they are losing inovative engineers. Anyone with any real talent has left Intel already. Management is running the scene and they need to pull their heads out of the ground to see what is going on. A good example of this would be with the Rambus fiasco. It was the managers that made the decision to use Rambus, not the engineers. Another example would be the web tablet. This product has been in development for a long time. In fact, if people at the last CES didn't show much excitement for it, the Web Tablet would have been scratched already. By the way, 80% of the webtablet group have been either laid-off or re-deployed to other groups. What does that tell you?
I am glad to hear that Sony has decided to go with SDL. I hope that Sony stands a chance with the Xbox, because I would hate to see Microsoft win in another market. We should give Nintendo and Sony our support.
I cannot believe the government is standing for this. Microsoft has exclusively shut out any company from making software for its operating system. From camera and movie capture to buil tin firewalls, this is a SERIOUS threat to any software company.
It is sad to see real life following what is often portrayed in movies. Robocop's and terminators may be the police of the future, but what happens when we give machines intelligence or when a robot goes haywire? Ultimately we are not preserving human life when using robots to fight for one side, but killing human life on the other end.
But until then, check out Designtechnica . This site kicks ass!! ;-)

I am not surprised at all. Covad, had terrible customer service, identical pricing and no one knew about them.
I have submitted a ton of relevant news as well, but have not had any posted. The news here is starting to get weird.

The high-end processors are a waste of money. There is nothing they can do that lower end can do. The speed difference in nilch.

How much do you think I could get for my old Vic 20? :-)

BE just did not know how to market their products. They could have been big like Linux if they had only put some real money into marketing.
Where else can you buy these other than Ebay?
Where online can you buy ricochet modems? I know that Metricom filed for bankruptcy a while ago.
