where would packages be build for people downloading packages in source, would that mean many people building the package for their system or multiple versions to cater for variations. What ideas do people think of for creating binary packages from source. Developers have a build environment to build and test their applications... what about server setups and end users how do they use a suitable system. I know about rpm's requirements system which provides ways of making packages available. Would others please comment.
I suppose that there may be an aspect of it provides a positive contribution to the Google company at some point, or there will be a dot com burst. dot coms failed by working on projects that are not taking off. The key to business and staying in business is to keep the business. If the business is suffering you have to be bold and cut out your leach. So long as profit is positive your business is in some way sound.
practically to make good use of democracy the vote has to actively seek the own ideals in the government they elect. Unfortunatly almost as soon as you elect them they change there ideals. It's not just the poor voter's fault who has the choice of one person or party. the party they hope will keep the pledge they set out with which the voter agrees to.
The problem is the unreliable middle man. When the public elect the mandate they wish to see enacted the party change it or can't deliver it. Watching politics would be funny if it didn't affect you.
Watch this space...
You don't know what will happen next we just vote which act we wish to see next. I know a 4 year act is a long time but is this the life of a politican?
mind you if you feel you could challenge the government with the values of honesty and reliablity then stand for election. Then we will see how good you are at keeping your election pledge.
have you seen the obesity figures recently?
I looked at your comment and remembered seeing the bbc story also who funds your health service after you've eaten all your Big Mac(tm)s
end of serious comment
imagine all the people flabbing their lives away.
belly flop, belly flop.
belly flop, belly flop.
(wake up) why are there all those fat people lying on the floor there
you can continue the story
X million people die of obesity related problems and the news hires a slim crew to replace all the fat flops
have you considered the affects of an additional moon? We would get extra events like the ones we already experience from the moon: Tides and eclipses to name a couple.
If people got to key there vote into a computer in the polling both and this key was present how many voters would be inclined to press in the next election.
...and the winner is,
long pause
Don't care.
Your next elected governer is Mr jo bloggs of a county the other side of the world and you will never get to see him.
Question, could politics actually get to this state?
On the question on how much is ported to a new architecture. I think most times people just make a new version of any assembly for the new processor and write a new processor compiler template for the compiler to manage to build code for the required processor. All the rest of the porting work can be done at the c, for which the only real modifications are for hardware quirks.
Any other new hardware can be delt with buy writing new drivers (usually using a piggy back driver for source code). New complex systems are controlled by daemon processes

I dont remember any web referances but I have seen it discussed in the professional Linux programming: published buy wrox search the index for security.
This technology could mean that the internet is not powered so much as quantum driven.
It highlights a meaning of the phrase "It's the little things in life that make the diffenence" and that won't be far from the truth.
Of course this is only a small step on a path which has been running for years, computing has been really pushing for speed. Especially when programmers had to account for each byte it used to squeze as much from a machine as possible.
This could also be useful in robotic technology where programmers always have to think of how long can the robot last before it has to get to the recharging station.
it's almost like having a mini power station in you computer.
You could imaging (although a little exagerated)

"Hey look Sir. No wires and it just runs and runs." says the inventer to his employer
"Can I take it home to test?" asks his boss
"Sure" replies the inventer "and dont forget it."
Next morning the boss returns "Well I can't believe it ran so long, it certainly kept the kids busy."
the inventor thinks 'bet they messed it up like usual'
"what was really odd was it really seemed to act strange." continued the boss "Well I guess it must be the quantum physics I remember the quantum world is supposed to have strange things in."
"Sir I think you'll find it's this loose wire. Thats why I don't test these things with the kids that quickly. They always fiddle with anything they can lay their hands on." cautioning his boss.

Would this have to be a case for the routine
pop the disk labeled...The disk would be organised with source codes to enable all supported cards and a means of detecting each type of card from the rest.
Note if you were working with a floppy it would have to be based on precompliled network drivers because you don't have the space.Another example of the same issue could occour with diffrent underlying protocol implmentations.
I Guess it must have been a site designed for a specific browser. Do you recall messages on sites saying
proper web design can work around such differances. The message about browser and operating system stems from the same principle. You nerds here know that CGIs and other server side processing tools can assess the client and adjust the output according to the information given.
I guess you have now got another message
