No, it was small startups. Like NextWave(?) that all crashed, burned, and got bought up by other companies. Some of the bw is still stuck in bankrupcy court.
If I had a kit I could probally get it going, but my Wife would kill me. *KILL ME*, so I cant go out and just buy a psx2 linux kit to figure out debian for it, sorry.:|
Hey, your computer really isn't using much power compared to other things in your house. Laser printers that never turn off enough are bad. Monitors are really nasty bad. Your Air Conditioner is really bad. Your fridge is too. My dehumidifier scares me even though it *is* energy star compliant. My furnace is only 80afue. 90afue+ units are out these days. My AC unit might be 'high efficiency' but I have no idea what they mean by that scrawling on the side of it.
The idea is to further programs like energystar and promote the use of less energy with the same technology. You dont have to degrade your lifestyle, you just need to start *buying smarter in the future*.
I'm pretty new to the whole house thing, so I've been trying to do so as much as we can. It costs more, but in about 3-8 years (or less) some of these units can save on monthly fees and be paying you back for buying them, assuming they are of good quality.
I'm also looking forward to home fuel cell units that output hot water as a byproudct and increase efficiency over many other types of energy production. Yeah, they use nat gas, but if we are lucky nat gas will be a good idea for about another century or two along with hydrogen until fusion or something else is reality.
More expensive, but you get a better screen and top notch support. I've gone through 2 of them still, but both times was *no questions asked*.
First one was due to a manufacturing defect by the company they outsource fab to. Second one somehow lost its speaker connection. Probally just needed to be plugged back in, but I decided its better off sometimes to just send it in for warranty service instead. I allways recieved a palm in exchange as fast as humanly possible from them, minus shipping time.
What pisses me off more is that my fujitsu p2040 lifebook had its headphone jack die on me. I had to open it up and soder it up. I'll probally call up fujitsu someday to see if they are as cool as IBM and are willing to sell just replacement parts (for a fee, but it would be nice to have a second part just in case)
"All GMRS licensees must cooperate in the selection and use of the assigned frequencies. For more than two decades the FCC has cautioned commercial and industrial GMRS licensees that they must cooperate with personal/family users. The FCC further advised these entities that if they did not wish to cooperate with personal licensees, they should instead relicense for one of the other private land mobile radio services. (The PRSG can provide you with a copy of this important 1977 FCC Public Notice.)
The GMRS is not "the other business radio service," the FCC emphasized in adopting new GMRS rules effective in 1989."
Because of the larger space, theres no reason AOL can't be aggragated into *one* bgp announce and be allocated *one* block that they will ever need, forever.
Charge $100k/yr and offer no support for any modifications that they make. This will either prod them into making/looking for a an opensource solution, or you get another $100k to play with every year.
144kbps is not 3g, try again. The Reg has had a few articles on how GSM networks will be beating the crap out of CDMA in this soon enough.
Anyhow, on GSM we have GPRS. Not EDGE. And its not that expensive. $40/10mb afaik. And its packetized. $4 per additional MB. Its not cheap, but its not insane.
Once I talked to Nick Triantos in passing at LWCE 2000 he was *very* interested in knowing about bugs in the driver and/or in the opengl implementation. I really doubt that you were either talking to the right people or you were asking the wrong questions. Trying to force a company to 'opensource' a driver isn't going to get you any help.
Next time you get a court summons asking you for some of your users personal information, I want you to take that moral stance to the judge and see how far you get.:)
Actually, they own multiple telcos here in Minnesota, under the name Sprint United Telephone. So yes, they do provide last mile in some areas over copper pairs.

We played lots of starcraft after hours in groups of 20 or 30 in a lab :)

I read about it in a at least month old mag at the doctors office last week.
Are there any good Stock Image CDs out there for unix users?

Heh. You never used peachtree. it uses oplocks like you wouldn't believe.
Actually, its owned by some german company now, not Disney.
www.counterpane.com
Evaluations of variety on KaZaA vs. reported users have been shown to point to inflated reported user levels..
Are you sure you didn't get blocked by SpamHaus?
At least some people have a sense of humor, you seem to have misplaced yours.

Fear that!
This is going to nuke ISP's that use MegaCentral from qwest, not Covad who gets their own unbundled line elements.
Unbundled lines wont be going away anytime soon.
They didn't say if their attack gets around MIC, which is a part of what 802.11 group i is wokring on.
I'm not convinced this is a real crack.

And, its allways on at least.
3g services will be better than this 2.5g stuff.

No, the longer time was because of the massive engine rewrites, duh.

Thats why you tell tivo to either record the show after, or tell it to record 15 or 30 minutes later before stopping.

I like to give christmas gifts that have a warranty, perhaps?
