But we live in a world where only Apple controls the OS of its phones. If you buy something Android, it's up to the company or even the carrier to update your OS.
And then there's the security problems because again we don't live in a perfect world and there's a lot of assholes out there that are out to just cripple your device and steal your personal information.
also, do some research because that never happened. Only a few shares were sold at extreme prices and someone extrapolated that all shares had that same inflated value to arrive at the one trillion value.
A lot of us are programmers. If the code doesn't conform to specs, it won't compile. Similarly, if there's a problem with the formatting of a comment then we can't read it.
Canada, where I have no idea how cellphone plans work because I've never had one in my life. Way too expensive for the services offered. Communicating via iMessages, on the other hand, is free. I just need to find an open wifi network when I'm not home.
I have a similar story. I got a hotmail address way before Microsoft bought them but the day they did, I stopped using it and got myself a gmail address instead.... at the time, Google was a lesser evil than Microsoft. Today, I'm not just sure which one is more evil than the other.
Whatsapp is so ubiquitous that reaching out a critical mass on another platform will be difficult though.
Is it really so ubiquitous? I never used it and all my friends are on either iPhone, iPad or Mac - except for one who's using Windows and I contact him via Google Talk (at least that's what iMessage calls it in the input window).
If all your contacts are on Whatsapp, then yes you're boned. Just like I'm boned if I ever leave Apple.
Your thinking works in an ideal world.

AAPL shares were above $207 a few hours ago, hence the "first $1 trillion U.S. company" title.
One U.S. dollar is still worth about 13K satoshis, so I guess it's not completely worthless yet.
The anti-Cook faction exists because Tim Cook seems to be in the anti-Macs faction.
By the time they graduate, all the languages-du-jour will have changed.
The only things that will always be there are assembly, C, C++, javascript*.

Nevermind headphone jacks in iPhones, Slashdot still doesn't support UTF-8 in 2018!
Never mind the cooling, they can't even put a proper keyboard in their laptops.

I just learned there was a place called "Paris" in Ontario, Canada.
We can't even fucking come up with original names for our own pieces of land.

Fucking Americans can't even come up with original names for their own pieces of land.
It's going to take a lot more than 15 years because at those prices, "affordable" does not apply.
Honey pot? Monsanto sure are doing weird cross-breeds these days...
Who's Nic and why is he opened to the idea of scrypting a DN?

Why? Because of the insane gameplay or the can't-get-it-out-of-my-head intro tune?
Riiiiiiiiiiidge Raceeeeeeeer!
You still need a phone. Fail.
I guess I was using something else in the meantime and forgot about it.

$1 per year? Are you insane, that's 8.333 cents per month!
You don't need to spy on your users to show them ads. It will only be non-targeted ads.
Yes. It reminds me of cellphones from two decades ago.
