Go out and get the new tetris
Very high quality. Best tetris i ever played.
    Not kidding.

    Other than that...
Worms armageddon is really good for n64.
Controls are awesome once you get used to them.

I like hang time, but nobody else does except my friend. The game is 2d and not the best graphics, but really good gameplay.

    I also have bustamove.

if you're looking for good games to get, go to n64.ign.com and you'll find 'em.

N64 was far from a failure. It has lots of great games you probably haven't played.

    Try:
    Donky Kong 64
Conker's Bad Fur Day (amazing game!)
    007 Goldeneye
    Perfect Dark
The New Tetris (best music i've ever heard in a game and great gameplay)
    Banjo Kazooie
    Banjo Tooie
Ogre Battle 64 (hear good things)
Mario Kart 64 (best of genre by a margin)
    Zelda: Majora's Mask
    shall i go further?
    Ok...
    Mario Tennis (really fun)
    mario golf
    mario party 1,2,3
    super smash brothers

Most of these can be gotten for very little money.
You can get used copys for about 20-30 dollars.

N64 was 200 dollars at launch, same as playstation. Nintendo is very realistic when it prices its consoles and always makes them affordable.

N64 didn't keep up with playstation because it was harder to develop for and the cartridges were too small. Thats only reason. The software taht did come out was usually of very very high quality, especially stuff that nintendo and second party's did.

I've never understood why people think it's so awful... I only watch DVDs on a PC. Sure, the screen is small compared to a television, but your eyes are much closer, and with the drastically increased resolution, you never notice anyway. Gasaraki on a 19" monitor and Altec Lansing speakers/subwoofer is very enjoyable, actually. :-)

Obviously, you've never watched a dvd on a decent tv from a reasonable distance in a comfortable chair with a decent stereo.

    1) its a hell of a lot more confortable to be far away from the screen.

    2) A good tv looks much better than a monitor considering the size. I don't care if you watch dvd's on your 24" monitor at 1920x1200 resolution from 2 feet away, its sill not going to compare to a good 27" in tv from 10 feet away. Monitors cause too much eyestrain when compared to a tv.

    3) altec lansing!? are you kidding. I've heard everything theyve made in the past 2 years and as far as they go compared to a decent stereo (not pioneer or crap like that) they suck. They aren't clear, they have buzzing noise, the satelites are not matched well with the sub, the sub is "boomy", that is it doesn't reproduce bass well, it just is loud and boomy. The last good multimedia speakers i heard were cambridge soundworks before creative bought them. They were very good. Tonally matched, smooth transition from sub/sat, no boomy bass, very tight and warm.

SO to sum up my statements:
    1) closer you are to a viewing source, more eyestrain given same relative size (27" tv from 10 feet is about the same as a 21 in monitor from 4 feet).

    2) sound will suck from computer speakers unless you've got really good ones (not the ones with the lowdest bass which is what everybody is obsessed with. You won't be able to hear any dialogue when there is any music playing in the movie and you won't have clear sound effects when something is blowing up. At the very least, get a sub/sat combo that has the ability to turn the sub up or down because every setup is different.

    3) finally. The couch is more comfortable than the computer chair.

If this were true, then UNIX would have never become. I guess everythign that comes out of Bell Labs isn't innovation and will never be used. I guess nobody uses anything based on unix, i guess unix wasn't innovative.

When was the last time MS innovated anyways? I know office is a good suite. I guess .net is innovation, but is it any good and why wouldn't it be any good if it were an open initiative?

I fail to see how being american makes me a money grubbing pig always seeking the next business opportunity, and not the next advance for the sake of advancement. I guess being an american makes everything have a value in terms of money. How does this guy sleep at night? Windows hasn't innovated since 1995, 98 and ME are basically the same thing with few improvements or innovations.

You don't have to market something to innovate. I guess mapping the human genome was not an innovation. Nope.

This guy shows everything that is wrong with the american view of things. If cnn were to carry this story they would have a view of open source that shows it to be stale and unprofessional and illegal.

Having open source does not inhibit innovation, it simply improves on it. If i innovate i can have 100000 people polish it and look it over as opposed to 10. People can incorporate it into other projects.

I fail to see the undermining of innovation, simply undermining of profit from half-assed innovation.

For the peripherals that SGI has go to http://www.sgi.com/peripherals/workstations_periph erals.html and click on audio/video for either O2 or Octane.

My point is, really, that if you buy an O2, your real limiting factor is how much you can spend on software, and once you get some revenue, you just buy more powerful software.
