    That's about as braindead a decision as you can get from a government. They think you can simply wave some magic wand and things just "happen". They must also think that no one else would use that new, government mandated back door for anything nefarious. Gosh no, we're all just law-abiding slav... citizens out here in the real world.

    In reality, they just wanted quicker acces to the playboy mansion, I guess.

    For the record, death is never the answer. An IBM PC/AT with 2400 baud modem and EGA graphics might be, however.

    I wonder what you think you gain by blocking the ads? It is like saying: 'Ok, Slashdot editors, I want to read your magazine, but I do not want to let you earn any money for running it.'

    It's like all those car, computer, and gun magazines I read at the bookstore when I was a teenager. Must have read dozens a day, for years. Didn't buy a one. I don't feel guilty for not buying. Similar, I ignored every ad in those magazines. I ignore or edit out the ads here. My right, my choice.

    I was wrong above, only one fan but considering I've kept that image in my head for five years now, that's not bad.

    I recall seeing a picture of a case some guy had made out of PVC piping and two 20" box fans, like you'd buy at Wally World. This one beats that by miles....

    Great idea. No clue if it's practical, but cool idea. Now for someone to build one out of ice. :)

    Outside of the ads in Opera, I think it's more of a matter of opinion. I prefer Firefox, because Opera runs slow on this computer.

    Because you won't get Customer Service to help you at all. I tried for the final three months I had Vonage to get in touch with _anyone_ there about the service issues I was having, with zero luck. I finally went back to Ma Bell, who will at least listen and provides the services I need.

    I'll go back when they get some decent CS skills.
