Slightly offtopic, but did anyone else have problems ripping this CD? When I used cdparanoia, it really screwed with the reiserfs partition I was ripping the wavs to. I've never had a problem with any other cd. Luckily, I use a 1 gig scratch partition for stuff like this, so I didn't have to go through the hassle of restoring the entire drive.
Now mind you every store in town seems to have plenty of Gamecubes in stock, but if you want an X-Box, you have to kill for it.
Totally the opposite in the Walmart electronics department where I work. Gamecubes are seen for maybe ten minutes at the most on our shelves. I can't remember the last time I sold an Xbox. My theory is that everyone who wanted a CAN$449 console and DVD player already got theirs a year ago.
Stop putting words in my mouth. I never said that I wanted people to stop discussing this. I was responding to a direct question (not specifically directed at me, I admit, but which interested me). I was just adding my own two cents to the discussion, in the hopes that people can understand another side to this whole debate.
However, the attitude that comes from those like you who don't-give-a-damn about freedom, does interfere with those who do.
Sigh. There's just no way to reason with fanatics.
Slightly offtopic, but has anyone had any luck replacing FSF programs with BSD programs in Slackware 8?
Lot's of proprietary applications for our nice Free system?
What about those of us who just want software that doesn't suck?
I use Linux because it doesn't suck, not because of some ideological battle. I don't want Free. I want Quality. If it's Free, cool. If not, I'll spend the cash for the Quality. I don't live in your one-world-one-people-one-reich delusion.
You're misusing the term "stealing". An awful lots of people do that nowadays.
"Stealing" would mean that my use of that signal is depriving someone else of the use of that signal. This is a matter of plain old copyright infringment. I'm not taking away money from the broadcaster, I'm just not giving them anything. Zero is not a negative, in case you haven't attended elementary mathematics classes at any point.
And receiving a modulated radio wave is nothing like shooting down a plane. A better comparison would be watching the plane as it goes by.
I can only talk about the small Walmart where I work, but we sold out of the 24 Gamecubes we had in about 2 hours this morning. Four days have gone by since the X-box was released, and we've sold 4 out of 18 we had. We've sold 6 PS2's since the X-box release, the normal PS2 selling rate for a 4 day period here. Customers I talk to say that they just don't trust Microsoft to make anything good.

I'm afraid you've revealed more about your vocabulary level than that of the book.
Please pardon my low education for not having a mastery of the intricaces of ancient British farm slang. Damn my english teachers for trying to instruct me in the ways of modern spoken english! Damn them!

I think the reason your brother was bored of Wuthering Heights is because it's so goddamn dull. Having to look up every second word in Coles Notes just to figure out what everyone's saying is highly irritating.
Perhaps something written within the last century might be just a tad more relevant for teaching english literacy.
Not Canada, unless the CRTC (Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission) reverses their previous decision not to regulate the Internet. Existing laws and regulations were considered good enough (regarding kiddie porn and the like) without having to create new laws.
What scares me is that this "hands off" decision was made by beaurocrats, not politicians.:)
The Australian government won't police this at all. They'll just use it to selectively threaten people the politicians and beaurocrats in charge don't like.
A government that ignores international law and refuses to sign treaties on global warming and chemical weapons.
Don't forget the landmines treaty.
As a dirt-poor student struggling through school and working part time at Walmart, I thank you, sir.

Computers are only compared to homes when it's beneficial for someone who is powerful.

I'll take a goddamn badge too while you're at it, pigfucker. ;)
No, blame the 63% of eligible American voters who just didn't bother to vote at all.
Land of the free? Don't make me laugh.
Either or, I can't understand what judge in his or her right mind would uphold this law. (My bold.)
Exactly.
I'd worry more about how much jello and cream lemon he'd bring to GNOME, not to mention the next default wallpaper and theme.
Whoops, different Havoc. Nevermind.
Or maybe Bruce the Cowboy, to go along with Larry and Jerry.
I'm so glad I'm tonedeaf. I can get away with buying $40 sound blaster clones and $200 stereos and $10 headphones and still enjoy my music.

i guess some test script could probably do that, but it might take quite some time to build all those different kernels.
What the hell, I've got lots of karma to burn...
Imagine a Beowulf cluster running this!
Thus spake the non-Yahoo mail user. It's pretty damn fast for me. The pop and smtp access is a nice bonus for a free service, too.

No, Directv is broadcasting to anyone with the technical means to intercept that signal. A dish they sell is one way.
Why are we getting email from some company called "Files By Irene?"
I take care of your screen while you're away.
Are you nuts? Dead Alive was amazing! I laughed my ass off all the way through it.
