Another "even my mom can use Linux" post that is just simple browsing. That's pretty much true on any platform. Try day to day usage including updates and upgrades. Let me know how she deals with a dependency problems and broken repos.

Canada is fucking huge and we're fairly small with 30 million odd people. Is your country the size of one of our provinces? Also, all the providers make huge money and are typically in investment funds and shit for good returns. As long as you're not streaming video, it's pretty hard to come close to 5GB of data, for me anyway. And I've stopped using WiFi outside home and work.

When you work that much without a specific deadline, you're doing it wrong. In my experience, if you have to work 12 hour days for weeks on end, it's because you're not fit for the job. I have no compassion for people that work like that for extended periods. It's just stupid.

  12. With all these new chips being made for Iot and AI and low power embedded, someone will make a cheapish chip with some DSP cores to be able to do more and more off line. It will have to come from the community as the big boys don't want that.

You don't understand why Google became Google. They don't sell YOUR data, they tell advertisers THEY know a guy who might want their widget. They'll take a cut for showing their ad for their widget. This is different than selling a list of names and contacts where some small percentage is actually interested, this gets higher results because the targets generally are interested in the widget and have higher buy through rates.
