    I'm not so sure about your last postulation there. More and more women are hooking up with 'geeks' now. That could be a form of mate selection going on.

    Of course, that could mean that our descendants will all be nearsighted overweight people with huge brains but an aversion to sunlight.

    Is this for real? It's ENTERTAINMENT. I could care less if they replaced all actors with CGI. How does 'morality' factor into any of this??? If anything, top tier actors and actresses getting $20-$40 million for starring in a film is the immoral bit here.

    That is one of my greatest fears...that our species is the Elder Race, Ancients, whatever you want to call 'em. If true I pity any other life that arises.

    Actually it was the equivalent of an adult human drinking 800 cans of diet soda a day, so while you are correct that it wasn't 1000 times the 'normal' dosage, you are still rather far off base about the saccharine studies of the 70's. I would suggest that you do some mor research before commenting any further on the subject.

    Here is one interesting piece for starters. I'm sure a smart AC like yourself can find more if you actually pull your head out of your ivory tower and look.

    You do know that libraries get most of their funding from taxes/local government, right? It certainly IS a matter for Government and Law to step in.

    There is such a thing as disaster planning, and such a thing as over sensationalizing. The dangers of a Pandemic are great for many reasons, but this set of revelations is the latter and not the former.

    Not only what you've already said, but there is no analog to neurotransmitters in this experiment. They aren't modelling the brain, they are just making a fancy neural net with little resemblance to the nervous system of a living organism.

    Driver support for 7xxx series Geforce cards is crap as well, it's not just the 8800. It's an Nvidia problem though, not an MS one per se.

    That's pretty silly. Last time I checked it was .75 for a can at the office and about $1 at the grocery store. It's $1 at the local schools.

    You are absolutely right. We should do away with police as well, and no longer treat theft as a crime either. No, Copyright Infringement is not theft, but it is a crime and Copyrights exist for a reason. If someone wants their work protected they should have that right. You do not have the right to copy it at whim, nor should you.

    If you don't like it, don't patronize the people who enforce it (RIAA, MPAA, etc.). Nobody is forcing you to listen to music or watch movies either.

    I'm really interested to see their scheduler too, and their memory management code. This looks, from the scant information available, to be Yet Another Browser that tries to integrate everything people do into one interface. It's not anywhere near being an OS, probably not even a Window Manager.

    You don't have to host it. All you have to do is make it available. It could be printed out on napkins or hand written on post-it-notes if you want, as long as it's available.

    Bzzzt. Another person who didn't read the bill in question. It *specifically* grants the right to appeal one's status as an enemy combatant in the DC Circuit Court of Appleals and then the US Supreme Court.
