I hope they do port Delphi and C++ Builder over. But lets not forget one very important point.

Aside from JBuilder, Delphi and Borland C++ are Intel only compilers. If they are going to port to Linux they should port to the other prevailing CPU architectures (Alpha and PowerPC). Because of their limited finances they may not. If they don't port, at best they are offering only a partial solution. (Or not one at all).

On the other hand....They may if someone from Compaq and Motorola is paying attention and is willing to finance the project.

For those of you who are excited about Borland tools on Linux, add the request to port to other CPU's in any available comment fields in the poll.

The concept of Web rings (at least as far as music related ones) would be shut down. Effectively killing the free advertising they provide. Only 'Portal sites' would have the money necessary to link to sites(maybe thats the real long term goal). Strike another blow against net freedom.

I simply don't want to be identified with people who have turned a computer into a religion.

Not only do they rag me for using Windows, but when they find out I write sofware I suddenly become one of "them", i.e. someone with a degree of technical competance, the very antithesis of the proud to be untechnical Mac crowd.

They reminded us to be like Linus who has kept a sence of humor and perspective about all this.

Accoring to the folks at redhat, Linus said....

"Mirosoft is just being a good Linux user and reporting bugs. You can say the same about ZDNet."

I beleive that ZDnet was trying to be as fair as possible. They firmly believe in the future of Linux, and have stated that publicly several times. They are doing their part in helping it to become a better OS through constructive critisism.

IMHO MS is going to lose out in the long run as long as the Linux community remains honest about it's shortcomings. No multimillion dollar spin masters to hide the warts. No FUD. Just keep getting better and better, and Linux will win.

If that happened today, the gov would be calling for the banning of the sale and broadcast of Beatles music since they incite people to murder.
