I went and paid my $6.50 3 times. I also have a copy of it that a friend burnt to 2 cd's for me. I still supported the film by going 3 times.
Besides, A pirated copy is nothing the the experience of a HUGE digital theater, the only people who are getting jipped here are the one's who didnt see it in the theater.
You cant really compare crackers or hackers to car theives. Its hard to come up with a valid comparision. The only one that comes to my mind right away is, have you seen the movie sneakers? They break into banks, to make it harder for other people to break into banks. They dont keep the money they stole.
Now a car thief just steals a car, if he gave it back explaining the flaws of the alarm system it would be a different story.
I love AMD chips, lately they have been great (k6-3 and from what I hear about the k7). I am one of the firm believers that competition is good, it will force intel and amd to drop prices, develope better chips and what not.
A small problem that I see with intel vs. amd is that intel doesnt just sell chips. So if they were smart, they could lower chip prices and raise the price on a different product. Until amd couldnt stay with them.
I do not want to see this happen, but you never know these days. Business is war. Anyway, I have said my $00.02, now time to go get coffee.
Hearing this doesnt surprise me, our government is likely to cover up just about anything that would make them look bad or make them go out of their way.
However, although highly unlikely, it would have been cool to see how long they could survive out there.
I subscribe to Linux Journal and although I dont have the issue with me at work right now, I know in one of last years issues there was an article about ARGO. ARGO is a car that is run by linux. Actually to be correct it is guided by linux, it still runs on gas.
I wish I could provide a URL, but i dont have the issue at hand. I know the project is running in Italy and that it has been tested and works. You can just sit and relax as the car steers itself.
When I get home I will reply to my response with the URL for all who are interested in reading about it.
We should have all seen this one coming. We watch movies like "Enemy of the State", and we think "Nahh, could never happen to us". Sure, it isnt the same level of privacy invasion, but it does happen.
Im sure this article is going to set off that paranoia alarm in a lot of/.'ers. We have to find ways to keep big brother from peeking over our shoulders.
Anyone know anything about PGP and how it is regulated? I just might have to start using it since i Dont feel like having Big Sam reading my emails.
I agree with you in a lot of areas, but sure it might be as capable as linux at running as a server or a router and what not, but the reason linux users use linux, is because its free. BeOS cant take that road. As for linux, it wont die, because its not depending on "sales". It just depends on the community and the coders.
BeOS might have a lot of features and maybe (soon) some great apps. However, it is going to have to create a HUGE hype to get even near the size of the linux community.
I have nothing against BeOS, the more OS's the merrier, im anti-monopolistic (if thats even a word heh).
I agree, who let these kids play with the computers? And also, i'm glad my g/f isnt into computers, I prefer having nice times with her and what not. Its bad enough I'm into computers and geeky stuff, it'd be unbearable if we both her:P

Actually its not Bullsh*t, whoever hacked the site had a few minutes of fun and probably showed the sysadmins (through some sort of left note via text file or something) how to correct the flaw, which would have cost money to fix by having some corporate snot come and help them "secure" their site. Now if it was a Comapny website that relies on hits and clicks and money coming in from the web, then I could see the damage of the site being changed. But since its not, I see no harm done.
What you are saying Bullsh*t to is actually the bad image of "hackers". Which would be those who hack sites and ruin them for good with no backups and no help. Those arent true hackers. And yes, they are destructive. But it is obvious that whoever did this to the Seti site was not one of those destructive immature "death to the world and your website" people.
Just saying my peace, I hate it when people judge all hackers the same once a bad one does something wrong.

Those must be some small dreams if "M$" can make them come true.
So if someone ported linux to the bra could you unstrap it remotely? something about umount/dev/strap ? And what about talking to other bras? I think this fits in that wearable computer category. Then again it would be kind of embarassing to file a complaint that someone invaded your privacy by hacking into your bra because you left open ports that were not all the way secure. You wouldnt get much support;)
Crashes? hmm, that would depend on what OS it was running.
Windows - You might get a "General Protection Fault" and have the men in blue knocking on your door. WHich you might just have to reboot. Or you might have to call to get better support (if the bra just istn cutting it for ya).
Linux - I find it hard to believe that linux would crash, if it did then you could edit the source code or maybe switch to a better fitting distribution.
I just have to say that what you said was hilarious, both myself and my co-worker love the idea of the techno bra "slackwear" and "red strap" that is genius;)

The problem isnt with nutscrape.
I think most of us tend to call those people (the ones using 37337 h4x0r nuke stuff), script kiddies ;)

It was to my understanding that the K6-3 was actually faster than the pIII, and that the k7 was sufficiently faster than the pIII.
/dev/null
I could be wrong here, but from what I have heard the k7 blows the pIII away in performance.

What if some "kids" or someone hacked the voting page (if its html based) and added another canidate (spelling?). And that canidate won?
If they did do this, my bets are on that they would put "Kevin Mitnick" in the vote.
Now that, would be hilarious.
