To be fair, saying "Only unemployed people got it" isn't 100% correct. If those unemployed people got a job, they kept getting the $690 each month. But your point about it not being a true UBI is well taken.
I don't think I told anyone to not pay. I took care of mine months ago. I got a little refund out of it, so I didn't play it perfectly, but I can live with that. Sure, I could have had less withheld so I could invest it on my own and make some extra money off of my tax money, but still, I can live with the way I do it for now.
However, if you do not pay the man, get ready for some pain... thus... "or else..."
That's not true. Back when I had to pay cash for health services I was able to "haggle" each time. If I wanted to pay cash right away over the phone I'd often pay 1/4 of what the bill requested. It may still not be as good a deal as what the health insurance companies pay for the same services, but it also wasn't full price.
I thought the same thing. The only thing that gave me pause is the thought that maybe in another English speaking country it is a common term. No idea...
That's a good start Microsoft. Now they need to invent a way that you can toggle this feature on and off with a physical button. They could put the button on the case, but they'd have to put a word above it to describe what it does... Maybe "Turbo"? Yes, they should invent the turbo button. That's forward thinking!!!!
Thank you! I learned on LOGO as well. It was great. After that, I moved on to that Lego programming where you could program motors, light sensors, and pressure sensors. It is called Lego Mindstorms now, but I was using it well before 1998, so I have no idea what it was called back then. That'll get you hooked for sure.
Solid point. I tried to think of it from a perspective of "maybe the mutual destruction is happening outside the limits of our view and we just can't see it yet", but it would make more sense for the mutual destruction to happen everywhere at a relatively even dispersion.

Would your internet have blackjack and hookers?
Too bad this can't get any additional up votes. Very well put.
Exactly what I was thinking. So Arizona has just one city?

One question, will the message containing the schematics for the FTL drives end in "this is not a drill"?
Just because I have no idea if you are being sarcastic or not... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

Maybe they got the rate of annihilation wrong. Maybe the mutual destruction process is ongoing.
