Anyone can request anyone else's criminal record.. it's public knowledge.. so if you really feel strongly that criminal records should be searchable, feel free to go request the criminal record of anyone you like and put it on the Internet.. Google will take care of the rest.
In "City By The Sea", there's a scene where Robert De Niro's character is layout out his history to his new girlfriend. He was married, but is now divorced, and has a son who hates him because his ex-wife has "done a number on him". Among other things, she calls him a wife beater. He explains that he "lost control" once, and that was the day he decided they needed to get divorced. There's never an excuse to beat up on a woman, but there's a difference between a habitual wife beater and someone who falls victim to their rage, recognizes there is a problem and gets the hell out. Domestic violence laws don't take that stuff into account.. and that's the problem with profiling people.
Most of my younger brother's friends (19-21 age range) struggle to do anything more than use email, Word, IM and MySpace/Facebook with a computer. Uhhhh, and most of their parents struggle to do those things, therefore making your younger brother's friends more competent with computers than their parents.
To my bearded friends from 1998: great work making an already confusing term "Free Software" even more confusing by rebranding it "Open Source Software".. this is the result. I know, I know.. you considered a whole lot of different alternatives but nothing really struck the chime like "Open Source" but maybe we all should have looked a little harder. How about "Unrestricted Software". It makes even more sense today, what with DRM and all. And the BSD trolls can still have their arguments about what "unrestricted" really means just as they do now about what "free" and "open" really mean.
and I'm a rocket buff. Compare this to, say, Arianespace who manage to put together an educational and entertaining presentation for every launch and show it intermixed with live footage and reporting of every launch, and in two different languages.
Oh I don't doubt that the extremely few Americans who actually leave the US are perfectly capable of being tourists.. the jibe was that so many Americans never do.
And what's really stupid is that there are commercial devices available which are bidirectional for under US$600. Sounds like great US military spending.
The summary is the first 3 paragraphs of the article and, not surprisingly, fails to summarize the article. So when you actually go and read the article you get the feeling that maybe it is an example of how poor automatic translation is, as the article has incredibly horrid grammar.. to the point that the whole second half of the article makes no sense.
Oh, and when you finally do figure out what the hell this article is about, it's boring as hell.. who cares about a mobile language translator device with text-to-speech that doesn't even do speech recognition? Travelers have been able to pick up such technology for $50 for a decade now.
Maya, 3d Studio Max and Lightwave all have shockingly poor UIs too - although at least they use the left mouse button for selecting things. 3d artists are terribly forgiving of horrid UI design.
Seriously, find a good manual and spend a few months learning something else. If you understand the concept of 3d modeling already, a good UI should take no time to learn.. none. If you don't understand the concepts, sure, there may be some period of learning required, but the UI of your modeling app should aid that learning process.
3d modeling tools are seen as technical products for a technical audience.. as such the UI is given no serious consideration.
Because artists have no freakin' idea what a good UI is. The fact that all the major tools for modeling have completely horrid UIs is not a coincidence. 3d modeling apps are the proverbial kitchen sinks.
I recently learned enough Blender to be able to model some simple things.. and after learning all that crazy shit I even got to the point where I wasn't having to think what did what all the time. All the claims that Blender wizards make about the UI being ultra fast once you get to know it are just false. Even after you have mastered it the Blender UI is cumbersome and annoying. I think what they mean is that it is faster than using 3d Studio Max, which may indeed be the case, but for someone who finds 3ds max pathetic in the UI department also, that's not hard.
You're just lucky you didn't pick a pre-1995 time frame, that would have been especially funny. "I was using the ssh before the protocol was even written!!"
Anyway, good luck with whatever you're doing these days.
You did ssh port forwarding.. in 1998, to a Sun box. Uh huh. And exactly what SSH server were you running on this box? I ask because in 1998 the only SSH servers available were proprietary, and not available for Sun machines.. or they didn't have ssh port forwarding..
Look, I'm not the only person who's bullshit detector has gone off here. Never mind the fact that you've redefined your definition of "when the Internet was young" to 1998-2000 which is, in itself, laughable, but now you're trying to claim you used technology that wasn't even around at the time you yourself specify. Either your memory is really hazy or you're just lying, so give it up.
I'd believe you but what you actually said was "spiffy new Sun boxes via telnet over ssh" which is just such an impossible combination that you're obviously making it up.
You're so right, you've called the bastard. SSH was so damn rare all the way up until OpenSSH became a reality in 1999 that most everyone still telneted everywhere. Hell, people even used rsh on a regular basis up until 2000. Only around late 2000 did Linux distros start shipping with telnet and rsh disabled by default.. and they were considered the odd freaks.
Your employer simply won't distribute the code.. then they're not required to release the modifications under the same license as the modified work. Note: "in house distribution" is not distribution for the purpose of copyright law. BTW - we covered all this back in 1998, where were you?

I intended to enter the marathon but for some reason they didn't consider a motorbike to be a suitable prosthetic. It's an outrage I say!

black object gets hot when placed in sunlight.. I've never heard of such a thing.
Ahh, but you still have the problem of pronunciation, which Americans find impossible.

Yawn.
heh, the productivity of a 3d artist has nothing to do with how many hot keys they can memorize. It all has to do with workflow decisions.

Seriously, any UI will be "super fast" after 2 years of learning.

I think the lady doth protest too much.
I think you have no career prospects because of your excessive use of bold.
hehe, whatever man.

And this relates to predatory anti-competitive practices by a monopoly how exactly?

Maybe you should stick to reading then as your posting skills are horrid. Now kindly fuck right off.
