Not a troll???? Sure IBM made $$ from MCA, BUT it cost them marketshare. Yours is the first comment from inside or outside IBM that hasn't concluded that MCA was an unmitigated disaster for IBM.
I'm running OpenLinux 2.3 and Win95 on a dual boot 166 w/ 64 Megs and a 4 Meg video card. Linux was snappier from the get go and now 3 months later when Windows typically begins acting flakey OL is just a snappy as when I first installed it.
Maybe have a disclaimer?--NOT! In this diverse community we must accept a limited number of these H.I. types. I think most/.ers will get a good chuckle, I did.
"Bottom Line: Contrary to common perceptions, open-source development is neither a recent phenomenon nor a transient one, and more significantly, it is one that will increasingly be associated with commercial vendors and end-user organizations. We recommend that IT organizations which currently exclude all OSS from their acquisition plans should re-examine this policy."
Thanks for that report. A good troll is worth 2 beta testers. Perhaps you could post a troll FAQ. Seems there are a lot of newbie trolls that don't have a clue.

Sorry, guy. CI$ dug their own grave. I'm no admirer of AOL/Steve Case but IMHO CI$ fscked themselves. CI$ had a greedy money policy. A CI$ member could wander into an interesting place and only discover at the end of the month that his credit card was $50 below what he expected. Fsck CI$.
Transmeta needs a fab; IBM is a logical partner. But--a thought: IBM would have been in this partnership for a year or more; would knowledge of the coming Transmeta products have been a reason that IBM has gone all out for Linux?
And I'm glad you hung around; reading the posts in this little flamewar has be fun. Shit (moderation) happens. Teaching the Linux CLI to your girl friend? Pretty cool. I don't agree with your Caldera arguments but I respect the way you didn't back down under fire. Glad to have you as a fellow/.er.
What????? A man can be busted for saying the location of known criminal activity in a casual conversation? I didn't mean pimping or bird-dogging; just saying something of fact.
one man says: I'm new here but I hear you've got a big crack problem. second man: Yeah, It's all over. There's a lot sold around 12th and Main. first man: You're busted.

I double click (open in a new window) children and follow threads with single clicks. I return to parents by closing the window. Works for me.

Anyone care to point out the difference for us newbies who get moderation points?

Not! Back in 96 when Transmeta hired Linus he wasn't famous. I've heard he's a genius on the x86 architecture. So much for the obvious.
