Metallica's credibility doesn't matter one way or another, they just haven't released anything decent since the "Black Album" - "Load", "ReLoad", "St.Anger" aren't even worth illegal downloading.

seems to me the more appropriate analogy would be internet diabetes.

'Internet autoimmune disorder' -- where the network defenses designed to block network attacks are automated and instantaneous, but the systems in place to reverse erroneous lockdowns are manual and unresponsive.

also an autoimmune disorder, where the network defenses designed to block network attacks are either manipulated so they won't work or in a more severe condition they are abused to do the exact opposite.

  8. the biggest success so far on Munich Migrating To Linux · · Score: 3, Insightful

..is how well they managed to port some of the custom built applications. switching from word/excel to openoffice is not a big step, but some of these specialized pieces of software for government purposes (so far with a Win95 look and feel) were the tipping point in the success of a migration like that.
    congrats to the munich mayor!

the standard configuration will be Debian GNU/Linux 3.1, KDE 3.5 and OpenOffice 2.
however, the main reason for the delays and the slow roll-out are that a lot of custom applications had to be ported and for some existing client/server apps interfaces had to be created from scratch.

    cheers from Munich,

You still can buy great hashish, marijuana, pre-rolled joints and space cookies in every other coffee shop in Amsterdam. And if you ask the right people, they'll point you in the direction of some dark alley where you can get an untaxed ipod. Just don't let the DEA catch you.
