  1. save money on A Wireless Network for a 4-Story Apt. Building? · · Score: 1

I would suggest saving the money. Invest it and start saving as much as you can. Then BUY the apartment complex, install wireless internet access (like a T1) and up everyone's rent because they now have free internet.

Then throttle everyone else's bandwidth to 128k or 56k and now you have people paying you for their apartment and paying for your T1.

No I'll tell you what a pain in the ass is. Try having to run MS update on every machine multiple times a day to push out patches for all the dcom worms and anti-worms.

rendezvous already allows you to do that with 2 macs. I *think* apple released it to open source, so go start coding a linux version

The creator of the original worm will probably sue the creator of the helpful worm saying he used his proprietary code to create it. Then he'll offer to sell each infected users computer a license to use his code in order to avoid being sued also.

  7. apple is it's own worst enemy on (When) Will Linux Pass Apple On The Desktop? · · Score: 3, Informative

one thing linux has over mac is price. I bit the bullet and bought some mac hardware. I thought it was worth it the initial investment to have the cool hardware and stable software. Since then apple has nickle and dimed me to death!!! I had to pay for a .mac account and now I have to pay $129 every time Steve farts. It's been twice now that they are requiring payment for OS upgrades. If you look at the cost of the OS, apple probably costs more than win32. There is a win32 release every couple of years and it's around $100 or less, apple has one a year and wants big money.

  8. Re:Already slashdotted on Number of Jobs by Programming Language · · Score: 1

It would be great to suplement this with stats on how many jobs are filled per programming language. Are we looking at the most used and most demanded languages or just the ones that demand outweighs supply? I am interested in what is hot, what has the biggest market share and what will have the most staying power.
