In 6 months, we'll see thousands of "JOIN MY RAD MMO ITS SUPER COOL KTHX" posts and such. Everybody will have their OWN VIRTUAL WORLD with noboby playing them. It's like MUDs. Anybody can host a stock plain MUD, there are already hundreds of them. But they're pretty much all empty unless there are tons of original content.
So we'll see maybe 1% of original MMOs and the rest will be stock crap. Big deal.
Also, looking at the website and graphics, it's gonna be: Cute ponies, glitter, anime-style characters, pastel pink... This is game development for 12-years old kids. Well, except for the flying penises.
I am not saying that research has no point or use, I'm just tired of reading this stupid sentence in every science-related articles, reporters have nothing to say and can't bother giving real explanations so they say "this is going to help us understand X."
"If all goes well, it could shed important light on climate change here on Earth."
Jesus Christ SHUT UP! Every single science/astronomy news bit has to have this "This X discovery will help us understand more about Y." I know I'm not the only starting to get sick of this.
I'm a Canadian (Quebecois actually) and plan on moving to France in a couple of months. So long, square heads! No government subsidies will keep me here!
Of course, 10 tons of flax will do it for anything. But I was making a reference to the French movie Ma 6-T Va Cra-cker (literally, "My City Will Crack"). One of the main story in the film is a large riot with plenty of burned cars and molotovs in a Paris suburb, caused by the death of a teenager by the cops. It was made in 1997. So even in '97, the situation was similar to today's. Nothing has changed.
Also, from my reading of the bill, this only applies to computer transmition. You will not face this penalty if you sell the pre-released movie on the street.
IANAL but isn't this already covered by normal laws? Like, any cop can arrest you for reselling stolen goods?
There's a minimum though, which is about $500 CAD if I remember correctly. Of course, nobody is gonna declare christmas gifts but if you win say, 2 plane tickets to Hawaii at your job - since your company will declare that gift, you will have to, too. And pay taxes on the value of the "free" plane tickets you got.
That sucks to see employees win a home theatre or something during the Xmas office party and then bitch about the taxes they will have to pay for it.
Provincial Taxes: 7.5% in Quebec, 8% in Ontario. Maybe also in other provinces, I don't know. And this 7.5-8% tax is only on "commodities", stuff not really necessary to stay alive.
Harmonized tax: some maritime (eastern, like New Brunswick) provinces have an "harmonized" tax of 15% on *everything*. But maybe not on food, someone could explain more about it.
Books are taxed only 7%, same for food. Magazines and CDs get the prov. tax, though. But, as I work in publishing, I love the idea that books are free from provincial tax.
Gameloft is the mobile games leader so I'd try to go with them.
This is not GOOGLE's Obfuscated TCP, this is a small one-man project HOSTED on Google Code.
That guy's gonna get tons of traffic for what's maybe a good idea but not endorsed or supported by Google.
Thanks for understanding my point.
How can they release something for the PS3 and DS but no mention of the PSP? Isn't the PSP much better than the DS, CPU-wise?

Yeah, trust SA goons for doing hilarious bloodline games like that. I followed the thread until the end.
It is Dwarf Fortress, of course. One of the most complex game ever made, especially with a 2-men team.

Fix your goddamn sig, it's "Jon Stewart" not "John Stewart".

Well, we are not "better" than the rest of the internet, it's just the rest of the internet that is worse than us. Thus allowing us to make fun of it.

I love you, I thought I was the only one to notice that. I'm sick of seeing this stupid sentence.
I believe AllPeers has already been slashdotted, did we need this once more? They *still* haven't released their software. Woop-dee-doo.
Merci, merci, quelqu'un devait lui dire. ;-)

Imagine building a beowulf cluster of DRM CDs!

It had to happen someday.

Too bad Arecibo is already taken for the SETI project.
Come on guys, where can I get the torrent of this "alien thunder" sound? :)
Eheh, I couldn't help but chuckle when I read "Jim Morrison". Totally destroys the seriousness of the article.

Allow me to clear things about taxes:
Federal Tax: 7%, on *everything*.
Provincial Taxes: 7.5% in Quebec, 8% in Ontario. Maybe also in other provinces, I don't know. And this 7.5-8% tax is only on "commodities", stuff not really necessary to stay alive.
