    Sure I had enormous respect for the guy ... but he's dead. No amount of symbolism will mean anything to him now. Now I have no respect for him. Why? Well, there is no "him" now is there? There's nothing left. Why have respect for some particles that are mostly coffin ash anyway? They've done their job - may as well flush them down a toilet.

    So does this release allow you to set the different desktop backgrounds for different virtual desktops across multiple monitors, like KDE 3 did?

    Or are they still trying to dumb down the desktop experience a la GNOME, Ubuntu and KDE 4.0?

    If you don't mind the Stephen Wolfram kool-aid, Mathematica 6 seems to have some pretty decent (and semantic) markup. At least, the one Mathematica guy I know raves about it.

    I still prefer LaTeX myself.

    Agreed in principle. Apt is pure gold, while yum is an abomination that makes OpenOffice look sleek and fast.

    However I suspect the below has something to do with IBM's decision:

    rpm -qa --qf "%{LICENSE} %{NAME}\n" |sort

    Try doing /that/ with apt or dpkg.
