Great idea! I have been faithful to Motorola phones since the original RAZR (think Tony Soprano). I now have a RAZR M since I wanted the smallest, fully functional Android smartphone.
Never mind RTFA, how about RTFS? I was quoting the summary. The point was not meant to be literal. It is an expression meant to point out how little this would impact the cost of drilling.
The other companies that argue higher taxes would scare them from drilling are full of crap. How about paying a fair share to keep the infrastructure well maintained and the populace well educated?
As the last line of the summary says. Compared with those other factors, Kaiser says the tax rate is incidental. 'It's a rounding error.'"
I don't recall all the details. You can read the linked article for insight. I see your point about the spiral, so now I too am wondering exactly how it worked. The bottom line is it was faster, but not 7x faster. It was a good idea at the time since CD rotational speeds had been maxxed out.
That is too funny. I just watched MiB with my son last weekend. I laughed when I heard that line because it was so long ago, but people still keep doing the same thing.
At least with physical media you have control. If you bought it on itunes you are locked into the Apple-verse for life.
That reminds me of a Kenwood CD drive I bought for my computer. It used a multi-beam technology called TrueX to parellelize reading. It cost more than most readers at the time, but only about 20% more. The technology worked well if you were ripping the whole disc.
How stupid can they be? I didn't even buy into the blu-ray hype. I only got a blu-ray player recently because a relative gave us their old one. I went out and bought one blu-ray disc (Prometheus). The movie glitched out halfway with audio and video garbage. Luckily it came with a DVD and online copy. It is the first and last blu-ray disc I will buy.
Sony is still angry about losing the beta-vhs war and is now fighting a battle nobody cares about anymore. Just like discs, the whole company is obsolete.
I love that Q3 is the test case. That was probably the greatest multiplayer FPS game ever created. A good chunk of my life was spent playing and administrating a server.
My favorite "accomplishment" while playing was always "Rampage!".
Sorry Dice, but I have to jump on the beta-hata wagon. I'll just point out two things:
1. Right side bar squeezes out comments. We are here for the comments, not whatever crap you want to cram down our throats. 2. Vertical spacing of text wastes tons of real estate. It looks like a High School book report padded to fill the required pages.
Dice Holdings, Inc: Please consider your next steps carefully. The/. castle was not built in a day, but it can easily be destroyed in a day. You have one chance to avoid a mass exodus. As others have said, eyeballs == advertising $$.
Stop trying to squeeze blood from a stone. The reason we come here is because most other news sites suck. If you want to throw your hat into the sucky news site ring, all I can say is good luck with that.
Good point. Why do billionaires live in lavish, oversized homes? Because they can. My wife and I both agree that if we got rich, we still would not live in a mansion. You can only be in one room at a time, unless you are The Doctor.
Here is the sad truth though - many iThing owners are not rich. Case in point: My sister-in-law could not pay the rent living with her parent's but she could afford her iphone and accompanying AT&T monthly fees.
You mean like subsidizing the $400K to replace the single glass panel that broke in the NYC Apple store? When you walk into such an opulent place, doesn't it make you wonder how they pay for it?
I understand the market. I just don't understand why people so easily pay so much more for it. I know it is all about cachet and impressing your friends, so I guess rational thinking goes out the window.
If you buy ALL Apple products then all is well. As soon as you introduce a non-Apple product it all goes to sh1t. For example, my son has an android phone and a windows laptop. His frat house has Apple TV. Guess what? He can't do anything with it.
Ash: Well, as I said, I'm still... collating, actually, but uh, I have confirmed that he's got an outer layer of protein polysaccharides. Has a funny habit of shedding his cells and replacing them with polarized silicon, which gives him a prolonged resistance to adverse environmental conditions. Is that enough?
What makes a religion real? It is all based on imaginary characters. The only thing that makes it real is enough people agreeing to believe in it. Do we really think god looks like an old guy with a gray beard? If he is almighty, couldn't he keep himself looking fit and virile like a 25 year old? Hmmmm... now that reminds me of Riverworld.
Comcast can burn in hell. I really really hope the merger with TWC is blocked.
Sorry to bust the truck love, but if you want a real truck get the GMC/Chevrolet 3500.
'nuff said.

Nice!

Agreed!
I love my Time Warner service. Comcast will find a way to ruin it.

"hooks to your iPhone"
Why is it everyone targets the iphone first, despite far more android phones in the market? Is it that iDiots more easily part with their money?
This is eerily similar to the famous Death Star scene in Episode IV. You can even imagine the control panel and sounds are not too different.

Just tell me where the cheese is.
Don't worry. Anybody under the age of 35 does not knows the propper grammar anyways.
I like the smell of my 1972 Dodge Charger on leaded gas. How come I can't buy leaded gas?
Holy crap dude - you hit the nail on the head, but my brain went primal when you brought up the "Big O".
Like holographic memory? That has been single-digit years away for decades.
